This is an excellent example of how to write a good Quatern, Anonymous Writer. I love the repeating line, which works well in every stanza. Very nicely done.

This is simply a beautiful poem - and I adore this form.
The rhyme is lovely and the lilt indicates perfect metering. Your choice of repeating line is very clever, and your presentation gorgeous!

And summer does appear in that repeating line of this very well written quatern. Beautiful picture and it signifies the warmth of summer. Awesome write.

"Now let's fly south, out-run the sun,
To swim all year in turquoise blue,
And please tell Winter we're not done,
One Summer's gone, so we'll take two!"

Captivating write. I love the line we'll take two. I really enjoyed how summer can last in this poem, that we don't have to give up summer. How soon summer ends and with your words I felt like I could always have summer.

Why not, indeed?
Now let's fly south, out-run the sun,
To swim all year in turquoise blue,
And please tell Winter we're not done,
One Summer's gone, so we'll take two!
Sounds like the perfect plan. Enjoy you Labor Day weekend in the sun!

You'll take two but no thanks here, our seasons are not regular seasons at all and I must admit though I really miss them. This is lovely your Quatrain and beautifully presented and it was a pleasure to read you this afternoon - Dinah

Comment from Rembrandt
Excellent syllable count and movement of the key sentence through the stanzas.
Rhyme is spot on and not forced.
The idea is clever, especially for the snowbirds that flock to our home in Florida.
Of course, I can not know who you are, but I wish you the best in the contest!

thx Rembrandt! aaah, you're a snowbird too then!

No, I'm the heart-not-functioning-well-and- happy-to-feel-the-humidity-hug-me-when-I-walk-out-the-door-lady. The expression snowbird applies to my really wonderful ol' friends that I love seeing here in Florida.

How marvelous. What splendid artwork. This poem makes me want to run away from home. The line 'Now let's fly south, out-run the sun' is great. Thanks for such a good read at the end of a long hot day.

I agree. One summer is not enough. I've often said that I would never see another winter if I ever won the lottery. I enjoyed all of your wonderful daydreams about a tropical paradise. Time vanishes at double speed. This is so true when we are enjoying ourselves.
