Visionary1234,
Your free verse lyrical verse is excellently written.
The art work is out of sight you used.
I liked the lines:
You are ...
a flower child
in love
with Beatle'd bliss,
hair, down to there
and curled, not a care
in the JC Superstar World!
raise the bar, burn your bra
set your sights, on equal rights
yellow V-wees,
peace signs,
I wish you good luck in the contest.
I'd recommend this poem to other reviewers.
Thanks,
Melissa.

That's a wonderful poem. I enjoyed the flip side of past and present. And my-my how we can change without even noticing it. Well thought out. Meticulously written. Superb.

Brilliant artwork to compliment your great story/poem. I can relate to your work, being a teenager in the sixties. A fun write, most enjoyable, lifted my spirits and took me back to the days when 'free love' was just that. Wouldn't it be nice to just go back and stay awhile in those happy-hippy days? Well done poet.

Congrats, Sharyn! The win is well-deserved. How sad is it you had to add something of a glossary? We're not that old ... uh, ... are we? Good fun! :) nancy

Hey Nancy - yes, so silly, hmm? and apparently some of us did get older and rather straight-laced! Blessings for not being one of them!

I loved this nostalgic epic you've given birth to here. I grew up in the 60's so I know where you're coming from. My buddies and I once tried to eat some psychedelic mushrooms that grew out of cow turds, but we were already so pie-eyed we ate the turds instead of the shrooms! We still caught a pretty decent buzz.

Your poem took me back to the heady days of love beads, Beatles, Vietnam, Flower power, Haight Ashbury, the summer of love, Woodstick, Chubby Checker, Soupy Sales, Twiggy, and Super-Ball wackiness of that era. Nice updating in the second half. There are indeed a lot of ex hippies around still living the dream.

As Peter Fonda once said in Easy Rider, quote: "He's doin his own thing in his own time". Also:"We blew it". Yes we did. TKF

Congratulations on the contest win with this well written self-talk free verse poem. I was a sixties flower child myself and so could relate to your images and choice of words describing the period, as well as your back talk 45 years later. Great humor throughout. I enjoyed! Sue
