This is a fun whimsical poem that tells a story and brings a smile. I think it reads well and the message is clear. I like the word bumptious a lot. Good Job.

I like that word too - earlier today someone was sure I'd made it up, so I sent him back to his dictionary! LOL Thank you!

At least I looked it up before I said anything....I am not too bright, but too old to get caught in that trap...again..good job

Hello, adewpearl.
This poem is a real gem!!
It's funny and cleverly crafted.
Great free verse.
Vusally the presentation is quite simple with the Arial font in red. But the red type sets the passion of the poem's tale well.
Keep writing. You have true talent.

Your love of unique words really shines through with the humorous tale that also shows how things backfire. This was a joy to read, with lot of 'cowboy' words included. Excellent fun. Blessings, Linda

Thanks ever so much - I'm from the Northeast but grew up when half the shows on TV were cowboy shows - must have rubbed off :-)

As we navigate our way through hundreds of poems, stories, book chapters = =some so sad, some too sexually explicit, some religious we finally come to a 'breath of fresh air' with levity abounding. This is a great read. Serves ole Jake right- -on the prowl for a sucker and he gets the sucker punch.
Thanks.

Bumptious - offensively self-assertive - in my Oxford Dictionary! Honest, I never make any of them up! LOL Can't take credit for the words, but I'll thank you for liking my story! :-) Brooke

This was so much fun to read, and told the story in such a good, humorous way. I've just arrived home after flying all night. You certainly made my tired bones laugh!. Excellent vocabulary and creativity. Keep writing! LadyMary
