A strong and sincere verse urging unity and consensus rather than constant argument and division. I always think, at times like this, we're playing right into Putin's/the devil's hands. He's playing the long game and we're falling at the first hurdle, blinded by reality. Nothing delights him more than to see nations fall apart (and he's always behind that objective - note his subversive support of Brexit and our departure from the European Union). Divide and conquer is his rule! Excellent summation! Well done, Debi. xo

Thanks so much Debbie, I love how you explained it. You are so smart but you are also from the UK, right? Because Dolly was explaining some of their politics to me. We must look like idiots over here. LOL.

I so appreciate your kind words and sharing the same feelings about the politics here getting out of hand. I'd hate to see anyone lose a friendship with anyone over the election this year.

So thanks again, my dear friend for your very kind comments.

In Australia, our political preferences and voting habits are kept private, and I think it is better that way. Some of us choose to discuss, respectfully, our political opinions, others don't. But therefore there is more tolerance and respect for people regardless of their politics, simply because we usually don't know. Plenty of other things to discuss. Your words are an encouragement to all to remember that some things, in fact many things, are more important than trying to win an argument by rhetoric. Unity and respect, and acceptance, and tolerance, especially. Well said.
Wendy

That is the way I was raised, Wendy. My parents didn't even tell each other who they were voting for. But here you can't even voice an opinion that might be different from the other persons opinions and they get mad. Kinda like I saw in that post here yesterday.

Good thoughts for the upcoming election. We need to respect each other's viewpoints. I dislike the violence and name-calling that exists in the political arena at present. It seems candidates could make their points without tearing down their opponents. Blessings. Carol

What wise wisdom. The same rule applies to your favourite sporting teams. Always allow for family and friends to have alternate views. But remember to shout loudly when your team defeats their team. And if they punch harder than you, buy a faster car.

Hey there, Bob, did anyone ever call you a nut? I mean in the funny good way? Because you are so much fun. So I think I will shout out right now,
GO VIKINGS!!! I will make sure to remember that about the sports for sure. LOL.
And thanks for the honor of your six stars, my dear friend.

Amen! Let's not let political issues divide us. I do think there are many Democrats who are against abortion, too. To me, the candidate should walk the walk. We know that Trump paid women to have abortions. So it doesn't make sense to me that the Republicans uphold someone like that to represent them. God can use both parties. It's most important that we don't support extremists on either side. And we can keep praying!
Thanks for pointing out the importance of being united as friends believers over politics!

The truth is I decided to write this after I read what a lot of reviewers said yesterday responding to a one line post. I am sickened and hurt by the name calling and negativity.

Thanks for the kind review and comments.
Love you with all my heart, Debi

I categorically refuse to abuse politicians, it's a system that a purpose, good or bad can't function normally in this atmosphere, they are totally different people once they retire, or after an election, it's not good to judge, but I definitely don't want to see trump win, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Hi Roy, and I have a deep feeling that God spared Trump's life for a reason. We saw nothing but wrong doings here under the current president and the highest prices ever. I truly think that people are redeemable and we need someone different than Harris for president or we are really in trouble. And like I said my poem is about respecting all views, but open borders are killing our nation too, and did you know that all the laws against God's word have been all democrats. There, I finally felt safe enough with someone here to admit how I feel. Abortion, gay marriage were all decided under democrat rule so that is why I am republican. Thanks for letting me share that.

I so appreciate your kind words and sharing the same feelings about the politics here getting out of hand. I'd hate to see anyone lose a friendship with anyone over the election this year.

I agree that politics shouldn't cause us to lose friends and loved ones. I am sick of the division being sowed between the parties but mostly I am terrified of losing our Democracy. Praying for an answer. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate your honest religious based views of some of the social issues being discussed in politics today. I grew up in a God fearing, Bible based atmosphere where we were to live our lives as though Jesus was walking with us every moment, seeing everything we did.

Whatever a person's political party affiliation is, we all bleed red, want affordable housing, reasonable food prices, and want our children and grandchildren safe when they go to school. Right now, we are witnessing historical times where all we can do is VOTE, and take out the popcorn and watch to see what happens next.

Thank you for your thought-provoking and inspirational poem.

Thank you, thank you! We all need to take your message seriously. Too many families and friendships are being broken because of politics. It's been many years since there has been a candidate that I agree with on every issue. We must value each other, especially those who can't protect themselves from being killed. Well done, Debi.

A wise write Debi and the recent events over there have shocked the world. People get so riled up by politics and we must remember we all have different opinions. From a personal point of view I look at the policies of a party rather than the personality of the leader. Here in England the Conservatives lost the election and as a pensioner I will suffer under the new regime as they intend to penalise the pensioners by taxing our pensions in order to give more support to the young. The labour party have a history of causing our country to be in debt and I don't look forward to the next four years.

In the US, there needs to be some unity for the country to thrive and move forward. Whilst all this squabbling is going on, wars break out all over the world and seem to go unchecked. The US is a superpower and we need your country to unite and lead with some passion and calm.

I enjoyed your plea for unity here in your poem as there needs to be some peace and normality so that we all get down to the business of living well. A fine poem, love Dolly x x x

Dolly, you can't possibly know how much your review means to me.
I appreciate hearing about how it is there and I am so sorry about the pensioner. You made me think about my husband's pension. So, I asked him and he said that he pays $500. a month to the federal government. And he doesn't think much of where his is going either. Your Labour Party sounds a lot like our democrats, where in the last four years our prices have skyrocketed and the national debt has never been so bad.

I am also a party person and I have always been a Republican because they tend to go with more Christian values that are important to me. Yet, I felt like I was a complete underdog after reading some reviews on some
    anti-Trump posts.

So, I decided to write a poem and ask for some unity here and you were my first reviewer. Dolly, I have to say when I read your review, I had to fight back the tears. Your kindness overwhelmed me. You put the biggest smile on my face and I thank you so very very much, for the lovely comments, the gracious six stars and for you being you. Thank you again! With love, Debi
