I have read and seen documentaries and news shows that have covered his life, his music, and his quest for love and peace among people everywhere. He was a mellow guy (I think the weed helped), and he lived the life he hoped others would also lead.
I'm not terribly familiar with his music; of course I know his more popular pieces. I am amazed at the amount of work he turned out before dying at such a young age!
Debbie, this shows a lot of research and work on your part - not only to learn who Marley was, but to put it into a poem so packed with information that I feel I'm reading a mini biography.
Compared to King? Why not? They wanted the same things and both risked their lives to say what they believed. They also shared the fact that their wives looked past the infidelities because their work was more important than jealousy.
Another amazing Sunday feature, Debbie. Thank you for all the hard work so that we could just enjoy the poem.

Thank you so much, Pam, for this wonderful review and all your thoughtful and informed thoughts. Yes, he smoked the weed right through his life, a very bright and introspective individual whose bi-racial background was instrumental to his insight and his work. He had more humility and shyness than MLK and I must admit, the more I read and heard about him, the more I preferred him. If you're interested there's a biopic coming out on 24th of this month and also a current bio on Netflix. Thanks again, Debbie

Thanks for the info; I'll look on Netflix.

If you have Netflix Debbie there is a small film about Bob Marley and how he escaped from Jamaica because he was being targeted and he fled to London and he was relieved that he would not be shot at again. Your well rhymed and metered epic poem includes so many of his greatest hits here. You did a wonderful job to include so many songs and make this poem sing like a bird.
You told a magical story of a man who loved his music and fought for the rights of others with peace in his soul, he died to young, much enjoyed Debbie, love Dolly x x x

Thanks so much, Dolly, for this wonderful review! I'm absolutely delighted you enjoyed. Yes, I watched the bio on Netflix. It's quite long and captures the respect and love so many had for him. I particularly took to his wife, Rita, who stoically put up with all his infidelities because she simply adored him and understood the mission he was on. One can't help but wonder how much more could have been achieved if both he and MLK had doubled their lifespan. Thanks again Debbie x

He was a good person who only wanted to do good in life, a gentle soul, but I would not have put up with his infidelities! This is a great poem and you should put a book together off all these poems, I would buy it! Ha ha ha, love Dolly x x x

Good morning, Debbie!
I must share that I have appreciated all of your exceptionally well-crafted biopic tribute poetic offerings, but this one is my favorite thus far!
How I love the music of Bob Marley!
More importantly, as you so creatively and succinctly share:
Impassioned by conflicting times and insecurity,
he strove to knock down walls and help the world, with hope, to see
"One Love, one heart, one destiny" would always be our might -
Three Little Birds in song to share: "things gonna be all right."
This Legend of his era, in a life cut far too short,
was lauded for his talent and the peaceful fight he fought.
A Prince of Wails, so honoured as he lay in regal State,
lives on with us, his struggle for love's triumph over hate.
Thank you for sharing, Debbie!
Kudos!

I've learned more by reading your poem and your author's notes than I did when we visited his home in Jamaica whilst on our honeymoon. This must have taken such a lot of research to get this so right, and the poem with all the titles flow extremely well. I never knew about him going into self-exile to London because of the problems in his home country. So sad. Then to go the way of so many people, cancer, such a sad waste of life. The good die young, and isn't that the truth? Well done, Debbie, I really enjoyed this delight of words. And a bonus of the video. Thank you! Well done, my friend. Sandra xx

I love how you are able to make these stars come alive through your well-crafted poetry using their own song titles in the words. You do a ton of research and include what your poem doesn't say in your notes. It really helps us get to know these remarkable people you feature.

Yet another musical and poetic tour de force! I feel as though I should know more about Bob Marley - he's one of those performers who has escaped my close notice, although I'm familiar with his best-known hits. Thanks for the share! :)

Thank you so much, Navada, for your kind review! I must admit I didn't know the full extent of his incredible mission and all his generosity by holding free concerts to spread the word. Take care, Debbie
