I have known several individuals who would fit the personality you describe in your story. One was my second husband; he was a law unto himself. Your story is well-written and brings back memories.

Hello, Jesse, I couldn't agree with you more. Most of our society is based on prejudice and strick views of what people should be. I praise your ability to accept people as they are. Well done, my friend.

How will people accept me for my differences if I don't accept them for who they are? The answer is yes, I will always accept those who are different and nonconformists.
Thank you for your kind words!
Your gypsy hugs are always welcomed!

Good morning, Diane!
Thank you so much for the shiny stars and for being the likes of those who are unable to label just like me!
I love that you read it twice and identify with the collieflower picture I chose just for this purpose!
Thanks for your kind words, my friend!

Jesse, We are all special in our own way. You listen to your heart and find peace before you start. Every day you search for those so different, amazed at what you see and hear. Worldly goods don't maketh the man, instead love holds your strong hand. K xx

An interesting post. Thought-provoking also. Personally, I don't think we should label anyone, let alone those we only know on a writing site. And aren't we all unique? All multi-faceted? I believe so. We all should be who we are, and not need to conform to anyone else's wishes or expectations. Thanks for sharing.

This is great, Jesse. Those are certainly the most interesting and thought-provoking people that you have described. You just have to shake your head and marvel at such people who tend to be self-assured and confident in what they do. I only know a few people like that.
Just a few grammatical fixes would make this read better.:
1) "there lies those" should be "there lie those" because "those" is plural.
2) "I choose those who are unable to label" should be either "I choose those who I can't label" or "I choose those who can't be labeled" because it is you who can't label them. (I prefer the first one because active voice is more powerful than passive voice.)
3) The same for "who are clearly unable to label" at the end. It should again be "who I can't label" or "who can't be labeled" or "who are unlabelable" but I don't think that's a real word.
All-in-all, a good, thought-provoking read. Jim

Thank you, Jim, for all the suggestions. I will look my post over and see if they fit into my scheme and if it works well I will change them. It is worth pondering anyway. Thanks for the kind words.

Another possibility would be "impossible to label." If you do that, the title should be changed too.

Thanks but no thanks.

Interesting, but we all label in some shape or form. That is the nature of mankind. It is a must for survival, navigating and understanding the universe we inhabit. Even call someone, a nonconformist is a label. Is it not?
Thought provoking piece.

I didn't get the "collieflower" until I took a second look at the picture - adorable!
I, too, enjoy the company of people like these and encourage them to be themselves. Sometimes peer pressure eventually wins them over, but the brave ones continue on - daring to be the person they truly are.
A thought-provoking write, Jesse.

I am glad you like the collieflower and thought it adorable. To me, it represents the different ways one can be in this world.
I am happy you thought this was worth thinking about and pondering.
