Recovery from addiction can be a challenging process as it takes constant patience and maintenance. Some experience addiction triggers, and even relapse. Prayer on your lips and faith in Him can do wonders. Thank you for sharing a powerful poem!

Powerful poem, my brother. The hold of addiction is very strong and has the power to kill. Jesus is stronger still and solves the sin-problem. I speak this to myself today as this same addiction is taking down someone very close to me. He has been moved into our home, indefinitely. It is a daily battle of which my family and I are waging war in prayer. Please pray with me. Your testimony is so encouraging in my struggles.

I just read this poem in another setting and it only paid 2 cents which was unusual be well worth reading. I imagine since it is here twice you didn't mean for the first to be here. Congratulations on you're soberiety, you've beat the demons back, that's not easy. I know a little about addiction also. Actually just passed my year sobriety a few days ago. I know how deep those claws can sink in.
This is a powerful beautifully written work. Expertly wielded quill my friend. Flows very nicely and filled beautifully descriptive parlance. So many good phrases.
This will go on my bookshelf to remind me of the demon at the door and remind me to keep that door firmly closed.

I loved this poem from start to finish, butthe authors notes with that beautiful scripture from Isaiah really stole my heart. To overcome gambling and addictions is really difficult. It always seems to require a complete conversion. The entire poem offers that hope.

I believe I have been lucky in life as far as addictions go thus far Roy. I have not had any. none that one would perceive as destructive anyway.
My father was a drinker, gambler, smoker but a very good man also. Mum Though, she left him(she was extremely religious) because of those very traits. I was 2 years old but got to say with him once a month for a weekend until I was an adult. He never changed being who he was and I never had cause to dislike him for it. I lived with much, she remarried and became even more devout in her beliefs BUT never tried to stop me visiting him.
As always my friend, I enjoy reading your poetic offerings and enjoyed where they take me : )) Hitch

Religion is a killer, I?m surrounded by gracious people, which suits me fine, I hate "religion" as such, but I had to stop drinking (which was the catalyst for, great for my wife and kids, they are all moderate. My wife stuck with me at my worst, she?s the best. My girls married their one and only boyfriends, they are good blokes, God has looked after me. My dad was a drunk but a good bloke, bless you my friend, Roy
