Turning the other cheek is what we are asked to do. It isn't easy and it sometimes makes us appear weak, but it calms the waters when we disavow turmoil. A wise decision in a nicely composed poem with great rhyming words.

Hello my friend. This is a wonderful poem from first word to last. Your words could well be the anthem or mantra for all of us to live by starting this very minute.

These lines: "So, let us love now and never hate again,
Always showing love for our fellow man."

God bless you, my friend. Bob

Thank you so much Bob. I wrote this a few weeks ago, but I hesitated to post it because I did not want to be accused of being overly sentimental. I decided last night to just go for it.

I love Gandhi's quote, "Be the change you want to see in the world." I am fortunate to have a circle of friends who have different beliefs and feelings, but we choose to form our fellowship on what we have in common, which actually, is more than what we don't agree on. I think your poem speaks to who we are. Thank you for sharing this.

It has never been about nations, but about creation. And we cannot declare that we love God if we do not love our fellowman. Peace requires unselfish love. Its up to us as individuals to stand up for what will unite, rather than divide. I agree with your sentiments.

Thank you June. It is a pleasure to know that I am not alone in seeking peace. Hatred requires so much energy and in the end it is all for naught.

-I appreciate the photo
and your notes, nomi.
-You wrote a very good poem
with many good ideas and
effective use of rhyme.
-Each couplet presents
an idea and follows with
a reason behind it.
-Each one is powerful if
it were to stand alone, but
together you give a good vision
of the way things should be:
"Peace and love without fear or pain"
"So, let us love now and never hate again."
-Well done.

Deep rooted hatred is often about insecurity and fear for the sufferer and then it becomes a habit they can't seem to shake off. Hatred is much harder behaviour continue than love, but there are some that thrive on it. It is best to avoid those who hate and surround yourself with those who have love in their heart and have a positive attitude to life. I enjoyed your positive words here and champion your poem and I hope many people read it and believe in your words, I do, love Dolly x

Thank you so much Dear Dolly. Your ongoing support has meant so much to me in the way of providing encouragement and the desire to be better at what I am trying to do. For me, it is not enough to just write, I have a burning desire to become a better and more effective writer as well.

Does that high ideal include the armour plated guardians of - the what exactly? Are the riot gear clad policemen, guardians of the law, of peace, of justice, of property, of innocent lives?

On the the other hand are they stoking the embers of violence into even more violent action? And when or if it breaks out who will be to blame, and who will take the blame?

I liked your poem a powerful dozen couplets. If the last word was pluralised - men - would would it make for a better rhyme with again, or is that just an issue of pronunciation?

I think that I will have to ponder that question. Depending on what I decide, I will or will not make an edit. I thank you for raising the question. I rather enjoy that my writing raises questions about my intent so that I must then reflect upon my word choices in future.

I guess man's biggest problem is that he tends to be tribal, separate themselves into groups rather than be a collective. The nation of Israel, was separated into 12 tribes, it even manifests in supporting football teams. Even Christian groups make minor traditions as more important than the major thrust of the Bible, which is bodily unity. Beautifully said and written, blessings Roy

Thank you my dear brother. This desire to be different is fostered somewhat by the Satanic desire to be above everyone else. I say this because God gives clue to the universality of men when he declared in his word that every man is our neighbor and our brother.
