I like this fable presented in a story about a cat. That's a great metaphor for the wise advice that we should always be assertive and refuse to be intimidated. Bill

Your contest entry, Mystery Author, is AWESOME! I love the dialogue included. The picture is intriguing, too. You carried your theme well throughout the story. Your words flow with great description and imagery.
I can see this from three perspectives.
1. The cat is 'telling' the story about how it lost, and later found, its voice; and, what it learned.
2. An individual is telling the story from observations about the kitty. Perhaps this person is the owner.
3, The author is using the cat metaphor to represent herself. She has experienced this concept of 'losing her voice'. However over time, she regained her voice and courage, little by little, until she let the world know that there would never be another time when she lost her voice. She learned about herself and how to not let others discourage her and push her aside. She learned she has value and her opinions matter.
While the image seems to portray this as 'only' a story about cats, there is a deeper meaning when applied to people--particularly the Mystery Author. No one should treat another like what was done to the 'cat' ( in this case the Mystery Author).
This is a great entry with a moral that is a valuable lesson for all.
Thank you for sharing. This is a winner, regardless of contest. However, it is the best entry in this contest. Here's to winning first place.
Respectfully with Love and Admiration, Jan

Aw-w -w this makes for a great read from the animal kingdom - and with a credible 'Meow ' thrown in with a natural flair at the end - and a great pic to illustrate

There is a wise message behind this simply told tale - sometimes our individual voice can be dominated by aggressive forces and we can be intimidated. We should, and can, voice things when we have something to say. We can grow in confidence as we get older, and should speak up when things aren't right. Also, we shouldn't forget the innocence and lack of inhibition we had when we were younger.

Hello Friend,
Nice piece of General Fiction in the form of 'Modern Fable' meeting the desired norms, having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, smooth flow, and beautifully depicting that an inborn quality can't remain hidden or suppressed forever. It gets revived on recalling boldly / with full concentration.
Laudable Attempt!
BEST OF LUCK in the contest.

Well, I'm a cat lover so it's easy for me to see this happening and to know how heartbreaking it would be for my Tabu. And for me! I'd miss it. Lovely moral to your story :) Good luck in the contest.

Whimsical and with an apt moral. Cat's meow is a witty title and makes a clever conveyance for the metaphor of finding/using your voice. Good luck--you may have a winner. Cheers. LIZ
