Your poem is filled with history and family and the feeling of pride and love the entire way through. Your author's notes explain even more. Great job!

This poem brings the wet stuff to my eyes. I can't imagine what your father went through when those letters were returned. Fear and hope probably.
This was a beautiful poem.

Hello Diane. Reading a little of the back story added to the impact of the poem. It's extremely well-written. It chronicles some wonderful, and some sad, memories. It tells a lot about the lives of some very honorable people. It reads like a saga.
Well-written.

Thanks for sharing your journey through your family's treasured papers, Diane! And I do remember about your heroic uncle, who perished with his fellow soldiers. Your family stayed strong and healed through faith.

You did a great job, Mrs KT, detailing your thought/feelings about those treasured letters. Readers can feel the impact they had on you and will have on your children. Your lines read well with great flow, imagery, rhymes, and heartfelt words. Thanks for sharing. Respectfully, Jan

You wrote this poem straight from your heart the emotions bleeds every line and choice of words, but it brings up a moment of history that we can only see it through the eyes of someone who witnessed. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your next writing.

Hello Iza,
Thank you for your excellent rating.
I'm a bit confused about your review as I am not certain what you mean by "only see it through the eyes of someone who witnessed."
And "good luck with your next writing."
Take Care!

Wow-what a Christmas present. The line to hear your father's voice again spoke to me and I felt some of your emotion. This is wonderful and sad but beautifully poignant, God bless you, Laura. xo

Hello Willie,
I am honored by your exceptional rating and complimentary review.
I am just amazed that these letters traveled from Michigan to the Philippines and back to Michigan during wartime and have been in my father's Navy book for nearly 80 years...And I only found them in December...
Thank you again, Willie!

This poem made me cry. What a wonderful treasure to find, it was like you were guided to it by your father's spirit. My dad was also in WW2 but never wanted to tslk about it. I'm so glad you shared this experience, it got me thinking about my dad again and all the love he gave his family.
