When I first met God in rebirth I was an alcoholic, my children were very young, my daughters were 3 and 6months respectively, I became aware of how important it was that God delivered me from drinking and smoking, I have a strong awareness of the importance of a sober dad, I have been "dry" since 1983/4, not even one drop has passed my lips since, the results are phenomenal, because I feel so deeply for the right of children to be nurtured and be safe in the bosom of loving parents, they know and understand parental commitment, thank you for this great post Sally, blessings, Roy

Dear Roy, you are a fine man and Christian, washed in the blood of Christ. I can see the results in your beautiful profile photos. You are blessed with the ?Great Repairmen of the Soul.? It is God that makes a man. My dad lived a life in headstrong ignorance and rebellion. God pursued him until his last breath. Of this I am confident and I am comforted. Thank you again for a wonderful review. It means so much from a friend who knows. Your words were inspiring and comforting. Thank you, again.
Sending you my best today as always,
    Sally

People who drink do not realize the devastation the cause on their family and friends. They do not comprehend anything people are trying to tell them.

Oh Sally. This is heartwrenching and poetic perfection. It pulls on the emotions that children and well, anyone goes through that live OR doesn't live with alcoholism or substance abuse and it may have been in '76, but dear, it so very current, just stronger substances. THIS, and I mean it should be marketed. This is brutal, honest, pain, both your words and the photograph. You nailed it. I just want to hug you. Get this enlarged, framed and take it someplace to see if it could be put in a facility someplace. It speaks volumes.

Thank you so much, dear Wendy. I am fortified and encouraged by your wonderful review and kind words. Yes, I was dealing with these things when most of my friends had normal family relationships. I still to this day have never taken a drink of hard liquor. It is my vow to God to live life differently and by His grace, I always will.
Sending you my best today as,

Nicely done. A poem of tragedy, done with grace. How sad it is for some children to suffer through a dilemma that they have no control over. So much love lost. The picture is so beautiful and compliments your work.

How sad. We have a similar case in our extended family so I can relate. Yet no matter what obstacles we are faced with there is always a way to overcome them. Best wishes.

I feel your lost for alcoholism is a decease that destroys families, Sally. I myself was an alcoholic for about 30 years. Learned to down that bottle with the best of them. Didn't get much learning. I was always drinking. I thank God for a loving wife that put up with my shenanigans. I made her cry many a time, I ashamed to say. Never did hit her just drank myself under the table. Yes, I can relate to your poem.

Thank you for the excellent review and personal feedback, Jose. My dad never lived on the other side of it all to make amends. I was the only family member who kept in contact with him. I did share the gospel with him shortly before Jackson and I married, and he died a few days after my wedding from cirrhosis of the liver. To this day, I?ve never had a alcoholic drink. My vow to God.

HUGS! This is so sad, especially since many families have been through the same thing. It is beautifully penned and inspires the reader to carefully consider the closing statement. Well done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Alcoholism and addiction is a dreadful thing. It must have hit you hard and the family must have suffered a lot. I know what it's like. My sister lost her husband to alcoholism leaving her widowed with 3 very young children.
Wishing you well
Sylvia

Thank you, dear Sylvia. I appreciate your personal comments, too. I near about similar situations more now than I did back then. People just didn?t speak openly about such things back then. The local police knew who my family was, called to our residence many times. I felt like a freak. But I am glad to say, I do not have this kind of life and have never taken a drink of alcohol. My vow to God.

I'm so sorry that you had to live through that. Your mom had to work so hard and so did you having to grow up so much faster. But you've turned that sorrow into so much care and compassion. Thanks for sharing this deep pain from the past. Hugs!

Thank you, dear Helen. Your sweet review and kind words mean so much. It's been turned around thanks to Jesus Christ. I have forgiven my dad and now married to a man who is a tremendous father and grandfather. Neither Jackson or I drink.
Sending you my best today as always, my friend.

This is a very sad story Sally, you were robbed of your father and alcohol is a curse. I know someone who lost his wife and turned to drink and died not long afterwards. Your words here are profound and powerful, love Dolly x
