I am really happy to read your poetry once again, with the 6 stars which wait for your talented penning. This piece has a wonderful smooth flow to it, I especially
the wonderful description of sleep
"and there have found
in solitude
the truth in dreams,
the music of deeper worlds than ours,
a confluence with faerie land"
Also your description
"as blow the winds into
the fleeting sails
of friendship"
Thanks for sharing,
Hugs, Trisha

Where to start? This is wonderful, Tony. The words seemed to wash over me as I read them. Lovely wording such as 'beyond the wit of daylight hours' and 'and leaves such echoes as do haunt the song of birds and mists that rise from dew.' Good alliteration, consonance, and assonance in piece as well as occasional rhyming.

And I was expecting another exciting chapter of Frenchlettering through the Hindu Kush or wherever. Never mind though, because this did not disappoint and reminded me that it was probably time I flexed my free verse muscles.
The expression, 'the fleeting sails of friendship' will stick in my mind. a very tight little phrase that.

A gift, Tony, that's what such vision of the depth of the world we give to ourselves in those moments of solitude. And the music, the song, the mists? those are the gifts given to us. Yet, at the end of the day, it is a choice we make to choose the catch of friendship and sail with it.... to share and enjoy all the gifts of life! ;) :) Such an awesome offering, sir -- love your more 'originalist' feel and the soothing melody with which you offer it! ;) :) Thanx for sharing, sir!! ;) :) Yvette :)

How I love these lines, alluding to a higher dimension: "the truth in dreams, the music of deeper worlds than ours, a confluence with faerie land that, in kindness, binds us to ourselves and to our clay," Words that have already bound themselves to me. Very nice.

What a beautifully written poem. Your great word choice, description paints vivid pictures in the reader's mind. I love how you remind us that each day we can start anew. Nicely done.

A wonderful write. The free verse flows as smooth as "the music of deeper worlds" that you discovered in your dreams.
Indeed the mystical otherworldly quality of the first four stanzas is exceptional. Thereafter, although the imagery continues to be marvelous, it didn't quite work for me.
Nevertheless, much enjoyed my friend.
Blessings Julia

You're welcome Tony. I think there are more story tellers who write excellent poetry than vice versa. I wonder why?
Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
I enjoyed your free verse, Tony. Great job with its imagery creating, thought-provoking words. Each of us goes through our day with many thoughts/activities, both good and bad. We encounter many 'things.' But in the end at the end of the day, it is the individual who has to decide the importance of each 'thing' and know and believe that tomorrow will be a new start. Thanks for sharing. Jan

This is a truly beautiful lyrical poem--a moving blend of uplifting descriptions and somber reflections. Favorite passage--"fleeting sails of friendship"
