This work has reached the exceptional level

The art work is superb here
for these words written
Yes killing someone is cruel
in everyway why such a terrible thing
can happen.

Excellent sentiments of freedom and equality, Teresa.

Maybe, 'closed out by the door'.

Subtle touches of rhyme and alliteration add extra depth and interest.

Top free verse,

Cheers, Ray xx

One who does not fight but runs away lives to run another day. Yea, verily, a live ass is greater than a dead lion. I'm just teasing and listening to the news from Dallas...how easily good ideas go bad...oh, the free verse is fine...

The shooters in Dallas certainly didn't help their situation. They will only make it worse. I knew something like that was going to happen. Thanks Red:)

A great piece expressing that violence will not silence the right for one to be themselves. Freedom will not be quashed by virtue of the heinous deeds of a deranged individual. Rather, one may use this atrocity to become empowered. If anything, this incident has only given strength to those who hide their sexuality. The world has expressed it's support.
Arsehole perpetrator.

It seems that when we grow older, our resolve hardens and we don't care what others might think of us. We stand up and fight for what is right and just.

Who cares what others think and try to sell to us. We care about others, and have to stand up together to put things in perspective and back to rights

You go girl! Well done.

Beautiful free verse, teresa. Hate just lives and grows on and on and on. People don't even stop to think anymore before they go off on a tangent that's nothing more than a vicious genocide.

Such a horrible tragedy, and an excellent post from you.

This poem reminds us of how long some of our Americans have fought to have a voice. I was a teen when the first brave African Americans entered the white high schools for the first time. I'm sorrowful that the struggle still continues after such a long time.

I was born in the early 60's in a town that only had a couple of blacks - none in the schools. I didn't hear a lot about what happened back then. It's terrible though the things that keep happening. Anyway, thanks for the great review:)
