A lot of truth in your quote. Some times it seems writings should be measured in the weight of the volume produced, and hope that something in that volume is worthwhile, not in the sheer number of pages written. Losing eighteen chapters of work would be enough to make the strongest writer cry like a baby. How many others can relate to that tale though? Believe you have a good idea with a "Don't Break The Chain" calendar. Find when that little muse wants to be productive, no matter where a person may be, it is very hard to not let him have his way. An enjoyable read.

Most thought-provoking. I've no idea what a muse is -- never met one, unless a list of ideas in my notebook is a muse.

Everything you say about your writing calendar is most wise. But it's no good to me. I'm far too lazy; I adore procrastination, and Excuses are my middle names -- all three of them. And anyway, I write lots of reviews; that's writing, isn't it? It's that sad chase after funny money to promote the next piece of serious writing that stops me writing the next piece of serious writing. Bloody FS addiction.

So, piss of Squires, and stop making me feel guilty. (!!)

Who among us could fail to identify with this one. Love the style and humour running throughout. My particular drought lasted nearly two years, but now it's monsoon time

You have certainly taken this work to places which I thought never existed. So, in real terms I feel kinda unqualified to be reviewing your work. My only critique is that it is a fine piece of art which I naturally appreciate. Good job, Jay.

More stories are in the works, along with the Trining. I'm having some trouble with one of the later chapters, but still have some to post.

Hi, Jay...

_ For me, the best way to block having writer's block is to have other projects going at the same time.
_ It's amazing how one can get a new outlook after changing the scene.
_ Especially if I go from my novels to a poem, and then back again.
_ Sometimes I write poetry and have two books going at one time.
_ Of course, through all this I allow my muse to run wild!

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Jax (*:*)

Keep writing, Jax. Time slips away so fast, looking at it through the rear view mirror. THanks for reading.

Wow! This is chock full of good advice. I especially was impressed with the idea of killing the muse... or at least sending her away. It is absolutely true, the best way to ever hope to be a writer is to write, and write and write. Waiting for the mysterious "muse" to arrive and motivate the fingers never worked for me. I really enjoyed this essay and plan to read it many times more. Good stuff here.

So very happy you enjoyed this, Nancy. I don't know about wisdom. I'll save that for when I'm old. I will accept experienced, though. THank you sooooo very much for the six stars, Nancy.

From your writing, Jay, I have certainly come to realise that you love writing. In this piece you have made some very good points, for me... But... my personal opinion is that you tend to labour the point too long. Sometimes overthinking the piece, can leave your reader bored, so that they abandon it before the end. I hope this is constructive as it is meant to be. There are many gems here, somewhat obscured by straw. Giddy

Ha! Thank you, Giddy. I really do appreciate your shoot-from the hip crit. I realize I do wander around a subject a little. If you're in a hurry to get to the point my essays probably aren't for you. My fiction tends to be more economical.
