I don't usually read science fiction, but for some reason the latest story I'm writing seems to be science fiction too. In any event, this is a nice short short for this contest. In your note you mention migrants being accepted under certain conditions, but in your story you use the word migraine twice instead. Did you intend that? It would seem to make more sense to me if migrant was substituted for migraine, or am I missing something here?

Thanks, Gerald. Yes it was an intentional play on words. Migraines instead of migrants to suggest what a darned headache they are to the authorities.

Hi, Tony.

[marked, 'Customs'] and:

[She didn't understand, (comma) and so she asked]

I think these humble grammatical suggestions are more correct, though I sure don't pretend to be a SPAG expert. :-)

Great fun write AND notes.

I suspect some people think a mild headache is a migraine.

Good luck and best wishes, Ray.

This is a great Sci-fi short story, you have really done it well. I love the play on words, very well thought out. This story might just be fiction at the moment, but I can honestly say I reckon this will eventually happen. Just so glad I won't be around to see it. Good luck in the contest! xsx Sandra

Thanks, Sandra. I hope that this remains fiction, but it was inspired by a certain uneasiness about current facts here in Australia.

Very good. symbolically this is what has, is happening, or will happen to us all. This story has the soul of the poet immersed within. The 'white noise' room is good--yes, we know don't we how disrupting change can be? we are experts, the chameleons come to rest. Welcome, Anna, to our generic world, the world of complexity--and migraines. Best of luck. Kenny

Thanks, Kenny, for your review and good luck wishes. I hope that she and her kind do not really become anachronisms.

I love the play on words with migrants/migraines and with customs as in traditions and customs as in a customs officer
strong commentary on the need too many people have for immigrants to blend in to their new society to the point of losing their cultural identity - how sad that we can't think of various customs existing together as a way of enriching our society. I like how you make your satiric point. Brooke

Thanks, Brooke. Migrants bring the vibrancy of their own culture and can add enormously to the richness of the existing culture in their new country, if we let them. Sadly, these days we do get some migrants whose only aim seems to be to overturn the existing culture, which tends to cause an over-reaction on the part of authorities.

I really enjoyed your contest entry...Get Over IT...Thought it was very imaginative but also frighteningly probably quite accurate. Unfortunately, in this world we live in there are many stereotypes...for certain people from all over world due to their race, faith/religions, political views, country etc. I worked in Saudi for many years and was always singled out on my return home... Well done I hope you win...You have my vote!

Thank you for this lovely encouraging review. Unfortunately people tend to be afraid of what they don't know.
