Typical single guy kitchenware. So you are happy being alone, eh? I was too, till I hit mid-thirties, then it got old. Burnt out from years of partying, ready to settle down. Maybe you aren't there yet, but you will be. :)

No guarantee of that, Phyllis, but no guarantee that it won't happen, either. For now, I'm fine. Thanks so much, my friend.

Good one--a fine poetic way to celebrate singularity (lol--I mean a state of single-ness). It's witty and whimsical with an interesting balance of hidden sadness coupled with relief and the joy of freedom.

The down to earth imagery is well portrayed with clever rhymes, fine flow, superb enjambement and nice smatterings of alliteration plus consonance, like D in line one, T in line two, Ma nd C in line four, etc.

Effective closing lines:

no pairs at all; just ones to designate
the singular condition of my life.

Happy Mingling, Mr. Singling

Love,
rd

:-)) Enjoy your weekend. I'm off in a minute to go see "Noah" with my mom. A rainy Saturday--good for films...

I like that your muse is working even when you are doing a mundane chore like washing the dishes and you've turned into a nice little poem. I agree less is best. 8-)

Thanks so much, my friend. That seems to be when they hit me. Well, there, or in the shower, or when I'm in the car or in bed...and you have to strike while the thought is hot, too.

HI, David

Your Saturday musing is a good read today; however, I must differ with you--the dishwasher is wonderful! I hate doing dishes. Period.

Your poem is in fine technical form and a fun read. Hope you're surviving these misty days.

Thanks so much, Ray. It seems to be either cold and dry, or warm and wet (which the rogue likes). Oh, believe me, I wouldn't turn one down, brother, but it literally takes one minute to wash the dishes, so it's not so bad.

Well I don't own a dishwasher either although we often have enough dirty plates etc to sink a small ship. They waste way too much water (I don't care what anyone says) so ultimately a "hand job" or the "good old manual way" is how it's done at our house. Great little rhyme on the single life and it's routines.

You never fail to entertain, jester, and also to know exactly where I'm cumming from. Must be your 'hand-job' experience. :) Thank you!

Oh no honey...on the contrary, it's my oral skills that have kept him in marital bliss for at least the last 10 years.

Hand jobs? Now they are a completely different matter.

Oh, having seen your pics, I already knew your oral skills were natural and adDICKtive.

What can I say to that then? LMAO

    I concede...I have "great" lips!

What?! You don't own a dishwasher? Whoa! They're great for washing furnace floor grate covers. Very smartly done up, dear David. That's the good thing about owning only one plate and bowl, you either wash them as you use them or you order in Chinese take out and use paper plates.

Very fun,

Gloria

Thanks, Gloria. It's an older house, and I've never needed one, so I just wash my dishes right when I'm done with them. It takes a minute, and it's all clean. :)

I don't use a dishwasher either because they are a huge waste of water. :)

Another great piece that shows just how you can write about anything, Marillion. Who else would consider washing dishes, and turn it into a poem about being single. Brilliant, really.

Thanks so much, Chas, for using one of your sixes on this short poem. I appreciate it.
