This really had me in its grip, so I have to go with six stars. The background about how Jana turned to Chinese healing for relief from her migraines is interesting, and so is the connection between the Lakota and Chinese methods. Jana and Dresden's past relationship is intriguing, especially as she sizes him and decides he's changed for the better. The ending gets spooky as Dres sees this ominous grey mist that blocks her figure briefly. He seems willing to give the supernatural some consideration, and this might re-enforce that thought. Great suspense. judi

Bev,

The chapter is interesting and engaging as Jana reconnects with an old boyfriend, Dred, from the FBI. Then there is the suspense of her friend taking her to a Chinese doctor for her migraine headaches. His prognosis and treatment created mystery in Jana's mind. Time will tell the results. The action and suspense made the chapter a riveting read.

Hmmm . . . a thick grey mist following Jana sounds intriguing. You have a little bit of everything in this novel, my friend, from the supernatural to mystery to maybe even some romance as you clue us in on Jana and the FBI agent's background together.
I found it interesting reading about Jana's migraines being healed by this "Chinese energy medicine" and how she discussed this with her Uncle Tony. As always, you have a real command of using dialogue effectively in your writing, Bev.
I've enjoyed reading every single chapter. Because you don't post these chapters that often, I am happy to be able to give you sixers each time.
Hugs,
Connie

There is much to be learned from Alternative Medicine, and the body's natural healing ability. I enjoyed your adding the Chinese energy medicine segment to your story for added realism. "Drugs mask, they do not cure" are terrific watchwords. "Dred" is also a clever pet name, and your use of banter between the two characters along with the "old desire lasso her heart" phrase were effective. Leaving us with Dred's vision is very suspenseful... Well done--I can easily see this story becoming a successful television series! -Joan

Joan, thank you so much for this awesome review! I've studied CEM extensively and I can say that it feels completely natural to me. I've grown used to the idea that I've had many lifetimes in the Eastern part of the world. Anyway, I really appreciate this great, encouraging review. Hugs, Bev

On is the bad spirit after Jana? As always a great read. I have always loved anything about Indians. I find their culture so fascinating. Looking forward to more. Rox

I really like that you're bringing in the psychic side since that is Jana's tribal heritage. Fine validation with the Chinese healing scene.
A little love interest and it's tension adds to Jana's character too. She's more than just a good detective.

Then you have the evil fog... and Dred saw it!

You packed a lot into this chapter. Awesome post, Bev.

Two typos:
-I thought I'd gotten over you(,) Jana.
-for your supernatural leanings, Jane(Jana?)

I'm so glad you felt the Chinese healing scene fit the chapter, Ellen. I was a little worried it might seem to be off track. Thanks, also, for catching the spaggies. I think it's time I supplement my contacts with reading glasses or a magnifying glass LOL.

Your encouragement and generoity mean a lot to me, Ellen.

It felt to me like she was getting back in touch with her spiritual side which she's been avoiding. She needs to use it and consult her grandfather if need be.

Exactly! And this will lead into the conclusion of the novel which is not that far away. Thanks for this wonderful validation, ellen. I do love Jana!

Modern drugs are nothing but poison. The natural way is frown upon. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

Hi Bev,
Another great post for this story. I got spooked over the cloud hovering over Jena - wild one my friend.
Ok get to the restaurant so I can find out what happens.:)

Excellent imagery and dialogue transitions are great too.
I enjoyed it and look forward to more. Clean write for me - didn't see anything - just a great read.
Thanks for sharing it.

Another awesome chapter, Bev. I noticed a few little spag issues but am on my iPad and can't point them out. One was at the beginning and the second was toward the end where you called her Hane instead of Jana. You are great with the suspense and keep the reader wanting to know more.
