Wow this is beyond what you do and this is the real you. Absolutely the best read I have done today. It takes me beck to the day I found a box with my mothers rings in.

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! Lovely bitter-sweet nostalgia, with three strands intertwining through the poetic skein - your father's love of sailing ships, your rediscovered cache of memorabilia and the salty (but now sadly lost to desecration) Port Douglas. Each element harmonises with, and complements, the others. Gorgeaous!

Wow that is really beautiful. See? An instrument...
...box...earrings...delicate...carved...mother-of-pearl...all tear-drops...
It flows so well starting with box then da da da Boom on the last word "drops". I'm not saying the other words aren't special in that I'm simply trying to explain how it is "falling down the stairs". Well now I sound odd. But, its a strong talent. Oh, is "sniff" supposed to be "sniffs" -last lines. Or not? Regardless, this is a Beautiful tribute and the vivid descriptions paint a fantastic picture. All in all an elegant and superb piece.

You've totally got it Greg - I love your putting it in words as "falling down the stairs" but that's exactly right. And thanks for "sniffs" - I'd originally written "I" and decided to change it at the last moment! bless you for the catch! and glad you enjoyed it! We definitely speak the same language - yeah!:)S
-
Yeah. We definitely do! It really was a beautiful piece, and definitely had That flow. Great job!
-
Wait I didn't give it a six? Yes I did. Hmmm. That doesn't make sense.
-
Have you already given me two this month? You may have - FS rule that you can't give an author more than 2 x 6's per month - another one of their funny rules! :)
-
Really? That's odd. Well, just so you know, I am Absolutely being genuine, that has nothing to do with your kindness, but strictly your writing. I am actually stingy with the six stars. When I Do give one it is for a very good reason. It has to really stand out but also make me feel something, and that is very very hard to do in a poem with me personally. So You deserve the credit. Your writing deserves the credit! :). And that is absolutely sincere.
-
I really appreciate that Greg - and thank you so much for a wonderful compliment my dear!

This is a lovely poem about memories shared with your father who has since passed away. Time flies past and sometimes nostalgia gets the better of us when we come across little treasures stored in boxes.

>>mapped by her father, whose ship has long since sailed
Just beautiful! Very touching. As for the journey ahead, you'll have fun getting there, and it will hopefully take a very long time, but when you arrive, you'll be wearing the earrings and your dad will notice when he greets you. :)

He will, and nothing pinches up there. They'll feel like angel feathers on your ears. ;)
