'Puzzling Pieces.' This is really what life is all about. Starting it, enjoying it, leaving it, then starting another, with another and having another. Well done.

Hi Sharyn, this is an amazing poem. I loved the beginning, middle and especially the end. A very well written, succinct and exception poem relating your journey.
Excellent work - maybe I liked it so much because I could relate to so much of it.
Blessings
Janet

'Puzzling Pieces' is an extremely well-written and thought-provoking piece. In so many ways it reminds me of Peggy Lee's "Is That All There Is?". This work was a pleasure to both read and review.

Oh goodness...where to begin...this was simply--I don't even know what word to use. Magnificent might begin to cover it, but not close. I don't know whether it's because I've been thinking the same things lately about how my life started, to whom I've looked up to and emulated in order to fulfill my grown up persona, and what choices I've made and will continue to make during during the last half of my life.

There are so many truly puzzling pieces that we have to fit into place in order to feel like we've lived the good life, and so with so many clues in front of us, you'd think it would be easier. It's just not, is it?

Anyway, a masterful piece, Sharyn!

xo JJ

I loved this poem. There is a good start:
This is my Beginning...

Then, how it ends, it is also powerful and it resumes very well:
Ours are but ephemeral footprints in the sand
As earth spins, sea surges and wind rearranges
All
Those
Puzzling
Pieces

Furthermore, a very interesting reading, brought up my emotions and really intense in every stanza. Well done.

I did. Actually is the second time I am reading it, but I didn't comment yesterday. I wanted to read it once more before leaving a comment. Well done, really :)

Wow, this is intense, my friend. You have tried to summarize a life-time in one poem. It is very emotive and thought-stirring. The ending is fabulous. kudos

A well written story of one who has experience life in it's highs and lows with sophistication defying the inevitable jabs that drain us. The important thing, I believe, is leaving an honorable legacy for future generations, in spite of the things that try to defeat us.

The moment of our birth, we begin to die. If we are fortunate/cursed we live a life full of change. The Aged one is forever linked to the first two stages. Good job.

I know this is free verse but it just flowed or moved wrong for me. Maybe because of the way it was layed out. It just didn't read real smoothly for me.

aaah, do I detect a revenge '4' here dear? I do remember reading a couple of your pieces and not really "getting" them either. Fortunately, no one else has had the same problem.
Shall we just avoid reviewing each other unless we see a piece that really 'grabs' us (in a good way)??? We're both nice people and we're both here to learn, right?
    Best wishes

I actually didn't realize. Hope you were not offended in any way. Sometimes reviews can sound harsh. That's just the nature of this. Not everybody is going to like everything. But I'll agree to do as you've asked.

No skin off my nose dear. I just think if one continues to read something in a style one just doesn't like, it becomes a pain in the neck for both parties. I remember reviewing two of your pieces - I think I have you one four and one five if I remember correctly? (I also offered to re-rate if you re-worked, but I don't think you did). I don't believe in harsh reviews. They need to be constructive. But some people just don't work well together. Chalk 'n cheese. Let's just play it by ear, shall we? :)Sharyn
