It is always a risky proposition when you take on one of the greats of literature, but I think you did very well and I think Robert Frost would agree. Well done.

Excellent write, Steve. Now you've taken to desecrating icons - tut tut!
Actually, I always keep a wary eye on the woods here in Virginia. All those looming, old-growth trees rustling at me. LOL
Enjoyed the fun write. Perfectly rhymed and metered as usual.

I do not know the Robert Frost poem you refer to, but this is a very good poem. A little dark and sinister. You can almost hear the evil laugh reverberating through your woods. Elizabeth Daniels.

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I hadn't heard of this one before, but your version is certainly gory to say the least. I will have to look up the original one. Anyway, this is quite a tale!!! Debbie

Your poem is interesting and mysterious. I enjoyed reading it and it makes me ponder of your message. My imagination if running wild. Your poem flows and rhymes well and I like your artwork choice.

That's an excellent poem. The Robert Frost poem you wrote of is one of my favorites. Your take is excellent. Seems to be a much different message. Perhaps my interpretation. Thanks for the read.

Thank you - yes, I don't think Frost had treachery and murder in mind...
