Harleys picture so fit the words. I could feel the great love you have for him. Puppies like new born babes, wish you could always keep them like that, with their innocence and smells. Puppies will grow and become even more loving. I loved this poem. Blessings.

Well, the whole structure thing of this ampeletum form sounds far to complex to me. I trust you pulled it off and had fun while doing it.

I'm not partial to the Ampeletum form because I think it causes a choppy poem. However, I am very partial to puppies and I think you describe puppy Harley wonderfully.

This poem is indeed cute, a poem for a pet, named Harley. The writer describes in clear and simple terms how she feels about Harley, her Jack Russell Terrier. She says, "Oh the joys puppies bring with their little faces puppy barks nips and fun running puppy races. I like best what the author thinks when she said, "He's growing so fast won't be a pup too long playhing in the bright sun singing a puppy song."

Wow Patty - you are getting so worldly! This is complicated for sure. Actually when I read 'Ampeletum' I thought it referred to Harley's 'ample tum'! Not a poet you see! Never mind, besides the technicalities the poem is excellent, with great rhyme and rhythm. I loved it.

Good for you Patty you brave soul attempting this form of poetry. The 6 syllable count is really quite challenging isn't it. i found a few little problems with the metre in stanza 2 esepcially in the penultimate and last lines and also in the final stanza in its last line. Getting the right word choice to avoid the slight jarring of metre is no easy task. The rest of it read just fine to me. The Blue Pixel aka Carol

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my Ampeletum. I SO appreciate your critique and I will try to avoid those problems in my next attempts. Word choice is an art form, and I believe the only way to avoid 'jarring' is to practice. Thank you, again. ~patty~

Thanks Patty. Practice helps in all things but metre is something you just feel. At least, that's how I see it. I am very musical and I have no idea whether it's true or not, but metre is just like music to me and either sounds right or it doesen't. 6 syllable lines are the hardest I have ever come across metre wise and it is amazing how some lines work easily and perfectly and then others, don't and you are right of course, it is about word choice then. i often find a 2 syllable word fixes a problem but that is not always the case. Thanks for your reply. Carol

Harley is adorable, and so is your poem. I haven't written poetry for any of my pets, nor have I ever tried an ampeletum. This cute presentation has me thinking about attempting both.

One piece of good poetry, conveys the joy and tenderness that provide these small pets.

Harley is growing up fast. Being a Jack Russell I wonder if he is going to climb rooftops for you. I had a dog that was part Jack Russell. She was a handful. I had to put her to sleep one month before she was to turn sixteen. Kidney failure.
