A wonderfully written story of something that's been a part of human nature since forever, Carol. I only hope if I'm ever faced with a similar situation, I'd do what's right. Best of luck in the contest.

Karyn,
Thank you for all the encouragement. I really appreciate it. I haven't been able to spend much time lately on the site, and I always appreciate hearing from you. I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. Smiles, Carol

this was beautifully written with good strong characterization and vivid description making for easy imagery.
Sad story, and as you say in your author notes, it's a true view of how low people have become in caring for others.
Best of luck

Hi Carol,
I too saw this event on TV and couldn't believe what I was seeing. How can so many be so insensitive? I know more homeless people die that we don't know about and that thought is so sad. You wrote this well and followed the story in detail. I like the ending...this poor soul won't want for anything again. Well done...blessings, chew

Oh this shortage of sixes...Carol, this is so good...perfectly done...I saw an ELDERLY lady lying on the sidewalk in Chicago years ago, as we were trying to find the train station...and 7 people were JUST STANDING THERE!! My husband would not stop, he said we would get mugged or worse. I have remembered that all these years...it was awful...and your story conveys the misery of people "forgotten" beautifully!! Hugs, Susan

This is very well written with a very smooth flow of words, making for a very easy read. Not wanting to get involve has been a way of surviving and people wonder why the world is in such a pitiful state. Good luck in your contest.

Hi Begin Again,
Wow, what a story! Unfortunately this happens a lot and as you say in your author notes, they will have to answer to God.
Your story is an excellent read, a tearful one at that and it held my interest throughout. It has a good flow and I have only one nit.
Two woman (women) edged by, clinging to the building to avoid my body.
Other than this easy fix it is a very good story. Thank you for sharing.

I also followed this story in the news - horrible shades of Kitty Genovese all over again. A good explanation? There is NO possible good explanation - there isn't even a possible so-so explanation. You tell this tragic story in a most poignant way, Carol, with excellent dialogue and poignant mood. Brooke

Brooke,
You are so right...I hope these people are never faced with a time they need help and others turn away. They could have at least called for help if they didn't want to get involved...That's what life is supppose to be...getting involved, living and learning with others...Thank you so much for the kind review. Smiles, Carol
