I really appreciate how much your pieces provide detailed exposure to a subject in an easily accessible way. Now I'll have to look up all the songs you referenced. The formatting was nicely done too, with the font differences providing a nice way of breaking up the text for an entry of significant size.

Just a couple small opportunities I spotted:
-you have three lines that start with "But". This might be more effective if you saved it for use only on the end.

-if you're feeling really ambitious, you could add links on each of the songs to the actual songs on YouTube... however it is also just fine as it is currently, requiring the reader to put in a bit of effort : )

Best,

Harambe (for President)

Thank you so much for this wonderful review, your thoughtful comments and your encouragement! I'll watch out for that errant 'but' and appreciate the suggestion of the links. To be honest, these posts take me so long already, I may just have to pass on that one. Thank you again, Debbie

Debbie.
Outstanding! Amazing!

He was (is) such an iconic figure it is unbelievable. I don't listen to his music now at my age but I do recall listening while I did my extended college years (I was on the six year plan which included to much partying).

In 2010 my wife and I and my daughters in-laws vacationed in Jamaica and one of our attendants who pampered us all week was a descendent of Bob Marley. The kid was awesome.

Wow. Great post. I thoroughly am enjoyed this!!!!

Great... great ... great
John

Thank you so much, John, for this amazing review! I'm so happy you enjoyed it. I must admit, I didn't know too much about him before I started. But, by the end and, after watching the Netflix bio, I was so impressed by him. He was quite a humble, shy man but he was deeply committed and generous in spirit. Nobody seemed to have a bad word to say about him and his wife absolutely adored him despite all his indiscretions. How wonderful to have visited Jamaica and to have met one of his descendants. Thanks again. Best wishes, Debbie

Absolutely outstanding homage to an incredible man. Respectful, yet clever. I love the way you incorporated the song names into your work.

I also think I enjoyed the authors notes just as much. You presented his story beautifully. Kudos!

I am fast to burn these days. 11 children with other women? Bad enough he denies his marriage vows, he can't be bothered with a vasectomy, rubbers, or birth control pills? And she thinks so little of herself , she is his doormat? Women are still treated badly by men because of examples like this. You write well, but this stuff makes my head explode. Karen

Karen, he was a superstar with a huge following. In Jamaica, he was treated like a king. Women will always want a piece of that. I've listened to his wife speaking on the Netflix bio. She absolutely adored him and put up with his indiscretions, saying it took the pressure off her to have more children (so that she could pursue her singing career) and he was always truthful with her. If you have that sort of arrangement, nobody's losing out, in my view. But I don't think you'll agree:( Thanks anyway, for your kind review and thoughts. Debbie

She was married he was not. That was his thinking. She would be there for him, he would not be there for her.
He wanted to be big and be a star. so much so, that he could not even get his toe fixed. I have never been unfaithful, it is beyond my ken. I have been divorced when I thought the marriage was not being upheld. #1 was abusive #2 got into drugs #3 quit all affection and #4 spent all our money, my money and cam girls, not paying bills and we lost the house. I believe in marriage, and when It works it is great. But both partners have to want it. In this day and age, you just don't see many happy forever long term marriages.
I don't mind compromises if they are on both sides. But here as in most cases I have seen they are mighty one sided. I admit to being prejudiced. Karen

This is outstanding for the poetry and the way you managed to weave his songs into the poem in such a smooth fashion. I'm just really glad I wasn't married to him!

Yes, Bob Marley is an icon. I don't understand why he's hasn't gotten more acclamations with this life and music. Thank you for sharing him with us. I enjoyed listening to the music too.

Thank you so much, Barbara, for your kind review! I agree, he doesn't get, perhaps, the same acknowledgement as MLK and yet, in my view, he should do. Take care Debbie

This is an exceptional tribute to Bob Marley, a musician who was a big part ofmy life's sound track. I was born in 1966 with older siblings. so I was made aware of all the cool music sooner than most of my friends were. When he died I had just started high school and was a teenager. John Lennon had died the year earlier, right in New York, where i lived, so it seemed like major musical geniuses were leaving us It was too much for a teen who was just learning how music speaks for us.

I don't have enough words to express how well written and well-presented your work here is. I truly enjoyed reading the information you shared and listening to Marley's powerful music. This song, particularly, is very uplifting. Thank you for sharing this! Many will enjoy it as I did.

Best wishes,

Alex :)

Awesome write. Your tribute to this remarkable artist found a home in my heart. I absolutely love the works of this gone too soon incredibly talented singer/song writer. I did not know what reggae was until I heard his incredible 'Roots Rock Reggae'. From the first time I heard it, I was hooked, 'Cry To Me,' is another favorite of mine. My love affair with these two great songs have spread out to almost, but not all of his incredible catalog of hits. Thank you for writing this great tribute.
