How men get that way is usually from a parental
Example or Booze for 90% of children with a U.S. I've drinks as parents end up drinking

This is powerfully expressed here, Doug, and I well remember you writing about this awful step-father in graphic and poignant detail (I certainly felt anger and hatred on your behalf). It's absolutely right, in my view, that you should rejoice in his demise (and how appropriately close to Halloween too!) What a joke, his obituary! Maybe now, you'll feel free of that shadow hanging over you for so long. I sincerely hope so. There are a few edits: last line of 1st para; (His) first wife... As you say, a day of woe, maybe for some, in-keeping with the brief; but, understandably, not for you. Good luck in life and the contest! Debbie

Thank you for the edits. I felt bad about rejoicing, but I really couldn?t help it. My siblings and mother also felt great relief. I can tell you that using this contest has helped me resolve things in my head and I want to write a book about this. We shall see.

Having only ever known love and respect from my father, I can only imagine the terror and lack of love you feel/felt for your step-father.
I often wonder what makes men and women conduct themselves in such a fashion.
One small edit needed:
Ding dong the witch is dead was the first thing that came to mind when I learned today that Dean Paul wlhad (had) died.
