Good luck wishes regarding the contest entry, Debi. I really liked the picture because it showed they dying of this country. I do believe your statement in your narrative notes that people should vote regardless of who they vote for. I do not believe that Satan is in control of the universe, God is! We have just lost our way. Blessings n Hugs!!!

Hi Ali, I hope that it is not how my poem sounded, that satan was in control. It is just that all the laws that are against everything that is for God like abolition, marriage, and gender is horribly pushed by our governor and it is so hard to watch him say things like if you want an ablation and they won't do it in your state. Or a gender change, we don't have to contact your parents. It is horrible. when I refer to satan's lies and ruling. That is what I am talking about. Maybe I will change that part so it is not misunderstood. It just makes me so angry and I know that God is always in control. Thanks for being so upfront my sweet friend. That is how we see things best is thru the eyes of others.

You are so very welcome, Debi. First of all it is important that Satan IS not in control. I liked it just fine.

Awesome! I remember when WWJD was a popular phase the country went through. I remember asking a friend what do you think Jesus often did that we should emulate. He struggled to tell me. I answered, that a careful study of the New Testament would show that before Jesus did almost anything important, he would first approach his father in prayer, and seek his blessing, and then he would act in accordance with his father's will. That dear friend is what Jesus would do.

Awe, I remember WWjD? Yes, I used to ask myself that many times right before I went to tie a good one on. No, actually I avoided Jesus at all costs back then. But i did like that it was a popular thing when my kids were little and I had been saved then. I didn't mean to bring up drinking but the truth is I liked it back in the day and it never got me drunk, but I was happy go lucky anyway so they didnt know the difference. Boy am I glad that is behind me.

Thanks dear brother for this awesome review and your comments and honoring me with the stars. It does bother me that many people don't take it serious that Church's are changing the rules so more people will come. Out governor invites people in for their abortions or gender changes and tells them that they don't have to include their parents. I am so appalled by this man. I am sick of this country acting like because the democraps say it is ok to change marriage rules, etc, etc. that it makes it ok. So I just blew off a little steam with this one and I am so happen that a few of my favorites feel the same way. Thank you for letting me blow a little more off about my governor.
You are the best my sweet brother. Gosh I love you!!!!!!

Hi Debi,
This poem of mono-rhyme stanzas reminds that we need to learn again the meaning of truth and faith. It seems that lies are all around us and cause much violence and pain. It also reminds us we need to take responsibility for each other and our actions. It seems that you think farm life taught responsibility better than urban life. I think it just matters what kind of parents and other teachers you had. Or maybe you are saying the mechanization of farms took away some the the children's need to help.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.
Have a great day.
Joan

P S Your changes have made the poem better and more inclusive.

Oh Joan, I don't mean to suggest that at all. In fact I was not really raised on a farm. I had one year, but I know for my husband, the deep work ethics are so much greater than the ones I had. We didn't really have the work load that they did with the amount of early morning cows milking and evening, before school, fiend work and always work outside. That is why I used that example. Still to this day, he never quits. I myself don't have that kind of energy or momentum. We did however have to clean and constantly help but not like him. I think I will go and change that. I don't want to give the wrong idea. I just know so many now that we own his parents farm, it is non stop. I am sorry about the misunderstanding my dear friend.

    Hi Debi,
There is a lot more work on a farm before and after school and work.
I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

But you know what Joan, I did not specify the other good points of work ethics that are not farmers. I feel good about the change and I can't thank you enough for helping me to see that. I am very grateful my dear friend. Hugs!

Well penned and illustrated with Uncle Sam having to be revived. I'm very concerned as we are getting worse by the day, it seems. So many things are out of hand and sins running rampant. I'm praying we return to God and His ways because that's the only way it's going to happen. Thank you for sharing, my friend. A brave post and much needed.
Sending you my best today as always, dear Debi, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.

This is an excellent poem for the Faith Poetry Contest. I agree with your assessment on each of the points of America's current morality. Our nation is in need of prayer!

Hi Verna, I love that we share a faith that keeps us wanting for things to be different. That and a different world for our grandchildren. Thanks so much for your awesome review my dear friend.

An impassioned plea for a return to 'the good old days', which I fully empathise with, even though nostalgia is not always the best way forward. But there is a huge need for decent values, not just in the US, and not just because it used to be like that. More, because it's only right.

Thank you for sharing this, Debi. I am sure that this poem could apply to Canada as well. So many truths that we once upheld are being trampled down. But Jesus is still in control, and we can trust the future of our country to His hands.

Hello again Debi. Here's a subject I'm bound to agree with, but would not make the US the only culprit! as I'm writing this, after church and before lunch, I am watching the lovely BBC program, 'Songs of Praise'. I wonder if you can access that on US tv or maybe YouTube? Today it comes from The Isle of Man, just off the West coast, opposite Liverpool. In the 80s, I remember being one of the singers on several occasions - and on Easter morning on the main BBC service that year. We still have regular 'slots' for popular Christian shows, and on the radio, a couple of Christian channels.
But what about church attendance?
When I attended and sang at the Billy Graham crusades in the 60s, church going was quite healthy; now, our church is the only one in the deanery which is paying its way.
I don't want to be technical today -your verses work very well. I offer you an alternative word: you might change 'dismay' to 'decay' ? 'Through His eyes we all should see' is worth revising as it is a reversal - up to you.
Liked the plaintive ending. Very strong. Exactly what was needed.
God bless.
Paul

Paul, when did you read this? I just restored it back one minute ago a love your suggestions but don't know how it was out. I disabled it for a few hours
reply by Paul Manton on 25-Jun-2023
It appeared on my Messages list this morning before I went out to church, so when I saw it was you, I just shut my laptop because I was so looking forward to reviewing it when I came home. You must have disabled it while I was at church. As soon as I got in and sat down, I reviewed it. It's great!

Oh I see. Yeah I changed it some because I felt it might have sounded a little harsh. So sorry that I kinda screwed up that great review. But you are welcome to give me more. I do always look forward to your reviews. But since I have been here I have found that God puts certain people in our path in our quest to want to be a blessing to others.

Sorry, Debi - only one review per poem!

I will also check out to see the YouTube. I have a lot to do before my next surgery Wed so have posted more in case I can't post as much after this next one. Thanks dear friend. You are awesome.

I think this is happening everywhere .India was supposedly a peace embracing country .Now many of us are helplessly watching the aggression being exhibited in the society with the tacit support of politicians...

A sad commentary indeed. Without prayer in our lives, as individuals, as families, as communities and finally as a country, we are losing our way. But prayer is still a powerful weapon against all enemies of the soul. This is a good poem, reminding us to be still and pray.
