This is an interesting way of forgiveness and I think I will not forgive mean person. I wouldn't allow it and it's my opinion. Excellent work! No mistakes found. Thank you for sharing!

This is the best example of taking a difficult type of poem and making it your own, that refrain line is brilliant, and as a believer in God being the justifier of the guiltless, and the forgiver of the repentant sinner, this is so beautiful Jessica, and evokes my admiration, well done, blessings Roy

I m glad that you forgive here as this is abuse and the only way to move on is to forgive and put this behind you. A poignant and also sad post Jessica, well rhymed and metered and these are powerful words, love Dolly x

Jess, this is a hauntingly sad but beautifully written poem about neglect and unfulfilled expectations. It sounds like it is autobiographical, in which case, I'm very sorry you had this experience, but it sounds like you've decided to leave it in the past and not let it trouble you any longer. It's so hard to forgive past wrongdoings, but perhaps that's what's needed for healing.
The rhyming and meter were spot on. You are really quite an accomplished poet. - Jim

Someone is very fortunate to have enjoyed a liason with this person! Kind of reminds me of the scene in "Casablanca" where the girl from Bulagria asks Bogie if she did a terrible thing (to help her husband get out of Casablanca)) if he would forgive her and Bogie responds, "No one ever loved me that much!" The girl that grew up in your poem must truly love that subject, whether God or Man.

Your poem is so so sad... Neglect is terrible... Good for you moving forward...away from this...
And, never forgetting but at the same time forgiving..
Your poem was easy to read as it flowed so smoothly.

This is beyond excellent or exceptional! I can feel the emotion as I read. This form of writing appeals to me but it's new to me. We just started a Writing group. Strong Women... in clubs. It will be a positive supportive group.
Best wishes,
Alexandra

This poignant verse flows so beautifully and draws the reader into this story of forgiveness even when undeserved. I wondered if the title should have been Forgive Anyway because I didn't quite understand it in its present form. Simple but powerful sentiments making this a joy to read. Thanks for sharing, Jessica. Debbie

Debbie, you are the best- I was regrettably rushing before... I didn't notice the title had been auto-corrected to "away"! Lesson learned lol Thank you so much!!!

Jessica, This is a very lovely and well written poem about forgiveness to someone that may not necessarily deserve it. When we forgive others it helps our heart and soul to heal! Thank you for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

This club entry was hard to read. I have a feeling this describes way too many children's living conditions. The words you chose are perfect for evoking the pain. Thank you for sharing.
