You have turned your grief into a beautiful poem, Jessica. The first line is particularly effective in leading the reader in. The repetition of 'melancholy' works well to slow the poem down and keep its serious tone. BTW you've let an extra 'r' sneak into 'buried', about halfway through. Sorry for your loss. Keep writing, you're a talented girl.

My Dearest Jessica, for the sake of my reviewing of this poem, please allow my heart to speak uninterrupted by me. ....How do I tell you how very much I loved this when I felt your heart breaking thru it? Yet I know the mode you have to put yourself in as a writer, to get thru those nostalgic and emotional parts, to let the reader believe what you are saying. That you are doing better much of the time. And I know that for the most part your words are true because life goes on. but when you have the ability that a good writer does; one where you allow yourself to reach so far inside of your heart, almost pull it out of yourself and hand it to tghyet tell about such a deep love (but lock yourself out of the highly emotional feelings) so you can pull together this brilliant masterpiece. Then I say Bravo, and you accomplished a truly amazing and electrifying non-fictional poetic ballet. Genius

It was 3AM and I was using only the floating screen keyboard and my heart was having a hard time expressing at that time. I did love it and it was beautiful.

Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss Jessica, how very tragic to lose your sister and these experiences leave deep scars on our hearts. Your poem is gentle and loving, subtle and very sad. When we lose our loved one's we grieve forever and never forget them. A fine write, good rhymes and melancholy sentiments, love Dolly x

You did a great job, Jessica, with your tribute to your
beloved friend, Kelly. The picture was perfect to show
both you and her together. Yes, your memories of her
will always be in your heart. At times, a thought of her
will appear out of the blue and cause you sadness. You
expressed your thoughts and feelings well. The rhymes
worked well and the flow was smooth. Readers could
easily understand the depth of your sadness but joy you
had knowing her.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Kelly is either a sister or a friend Jessica, that fabulous photo is her on my left, and you on the right. You are both beautiful, and as the poem says, "They will not grow old, as we who are left grow old, age shall not weary them...". This is a beautiful poem my friend, I have lost so many now...well done, blessings Roy

Roy, thank you so much. Your words are so moving and much appreciated. Kelly was my little sister. Her addiction took her life. God bless you for your kind words. Xoxo

This is a perfect description of losing a first love. The rhyme with rhythm show the care you took in this pen. Not every first love is the "crush" love but instead our siblings. I know my sisters are my first loves. Beautifully written. Jessica and Kelly forever. Much love, Cherish.

As, this is so heartbreaking, Jess! Again, I am so sorry for the loss of Kelly. How could it not affect your life? I comfort myself with those the Lord has given me to love at present. It makes my personal losses more bearable. A beautiful poem dedicated to her memory for your book. Sending you my best, with prayers of loving comfort for you and your family.
