That's a lovely tradition! You described it in detail, sufficient for us to see Zoe's character and personality (I'm a bit like her!), and of course, yours as well. Your story is interesting, thoughtful, and well written, and I send best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Wendy, thank you very much, and STAY DRY!, Terry.

This is such a charming story, Terry. I'm sorry about your wife, but your love for her is beautiful to see. The idea of daily sacrosanct "date" time is very sweet. I can't wait until my husband's and my lives afford such a luxury. The fact that you still have your movie time, and still often choose the types of movies your wife would have liked, speaks volumes for the type of person you are.
Thank you for sharing a story that left me with a smile.

Thank you for the review, I may just be a creature of habit at this point! Terry.

I truly wish I had six stars available for this one. A definite recipe for a successful relationship is a routine that the two of you enjoy religiously. The conversation should be so natural that even when one is missing you still makes comments as if nothing had ever changed. September 2nd will be 49 years of marriage. If I am the last to go, I do not know how I will survive. I know that I must. I am so inspired by your wonderful story of love and how it has survived. God bless you and the loving memory of Zoe.

Donna, Thank you!!! Terry.
Comment from Wayne Fowler
Very well written. Very nice.
My wife and I have very much the same rules, except there is no pattern, just some late afternoon when the notion strikes. Our main trouble is finding one (streaming) that is suitable. About half the time (it seems) we have hit 'the wall' before lasting more than a 10-15 minutes into one and then trying another, and another. After several of those attempts, it's too late to start a movie at all, and we're done.
With the right movie, we might forget that we aren't dating teenagers instead of geriatrics. lol

Wayne, thank you for the review, and yes, I do know the feelings you described. Terry.

So, Zoe is still there as you watch her kind of movie. This was a great tradition. Everyone should devote themselves to sharing something fun. And there is nothing so loving as talking to the one you love, even if they have gone ahead or you.

You did a great job showing readers your special time with
Zoe and the movies. I enjoyed reading this, Terry. Even with
very different perspectives on types of movies to watch, you
and she made it a special time for both. I like the details you
added. This was a great reminiscing of love, actually.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Jan, thank you as always for the wonderful review that you write. I am grateful. Terry.

I love it when an author gives us an intimate look at their life and love. Although Zoe is physically gone, it's obvious that she lives in your heart. Continuing your happy hour movie night is one way you keep her with you.
We're honored that you allowed us to peek in.

I was going along getting a kick out yours and Zoe's movie nights with drinks. Then, smack, you ingrained my brain with your simple, and up to that point, fun story, which I'm not likely to forget anytime soon. I'm sorry for your loss. But something tells me Zoe might still be around close. Thanks for sharing. I wish I had a six.

What a beautifully told tale, as I'm coming to expect. I love that, although your wife's passing is inevitably a part of the story, you are focused entirely on the positive aspects - the lovely memories.
Totally with he on sex and violence. It fascinates me that in the US (and to a lesser but still noticeable extent in the UK), sex raises a film's rating far higher than violence.
Conversely, in Europe, it's the other way around (the film 'Blue is the Warmest Colour' is rated 12 in France and ... well, lets just say it warms the cockles).
I loved reading this - thanks so much for posting.
