First of all Cindy, thank you for being on the front line, helping so many people at great cost to yourself. Where would we be without health workers? You did a great job with your poem, good rhyme and meter. You told a story that needed to be told...you cannot be taken for granted. Thank you for sharing, and humanizing this state of affairs.

A poignant write Cindy and we have all been to hell and back during the pandemic and now everybody seems to have Covid! This killer has been diluted into the community and the world is slowly getting back to normal. As for these care workers, they have battled against the odds and many front line workers died when the pandemic first hit us. I praise them all for their courage, love Dolly x

Thanks. I'm very lucky I haven't caught it. I really hope things get back to normal.

I praise God for all of the brave and selfless workers who are doing their level best to keep as many people alive as possible. A curse on those who know better but insist on pushing lies about the wisdom in getting vaccinated. I have a niece who is a hard working nurse. I worry about her constantly, most especially since she has a small child at home.

Thanks for the six! I will admit I had some concerns about the vaccine. I was worried about side effects, but I decided I didn't have the right to put other people's health at risk, so I got it.

Evidence of bad effects suffered from the vaccine are miniscule compared to evidence of the number of lives saved from being vaccinated. People need to use their God given common sense here.

'One Worn Out Worker ' , is an exceptionally well-written and heart-breaking piece. This talented poet as with craft and skill told it as it is. Tragedy runs in leaps and bounds. To me this is a six.

It may be a little hard for many people to understand just how onerous and exhausting it is to be a caregiver or nurse in a hospital or aged care facility. This poem puts the situation really clearly though personalising it with specific patients' needs.
I admire you so much for the caring work you do. How awful to be blamed for the situation. It is so hard on everyone. There comes a point where to be effective you do need to prioritise self-care.

Thanks. I understand that the ones who blame me don't really have all their marbles. I just happen to be the one who is there. Working too many hours with income tax taking a good chunk of the income can't go on forever. I can't afford to get sick.

It's like shooting the messenger.
I send you good health wishes.

No, you aren't alone. My son who's a paramedic is working three days with 14 hour shifts, and one day off. He's exhausted, I know. They are always short-handed but they are running back to back on calls. You have a touch job, too. By the way, where are my dragons? ð???

Thanks. Hopefully now that I'm not completely exhausted, I can get back to the dragons. I'm going to have to delete and re-write what I did when I was so tired. It's junk.

No, it's not!

You told your story well of how this pandemic has affected many geriatric patients in long-term care facilities. Great job and I didn't find any errors. have a great evening. Shirley

Thanks for the six! It's affected everybody, of course, but I really felt for the residents and their families when they couldn't see each other.
Comment from Jannypan (Jan)
You described the situation in nursing homes well, Cindy. Your lines are smooth, the rhymes work well, and the descriptions of both the residents in need and those of the employee are well defined. What a horrible time for patients who may be sick, don't understand why family has vanished, and takes it out on the employees. So many times people think only of the patients when it is the staff attending them that needs the attention more.
Respectfully, Jan

Thanks. The families are now allowed back in, but it was awful when they weren't. It was hard on everyone.

My hat comes off to you and your co-workers. Your poem really tells it like it is, and even though we have heard stories like this from time to time, it is a story well worth repeating.

Thanks. It's been a tough couple of years. Thankfully it's getting better and restrictions are easing.
