I lost a man called Anthony recently. He wasn't my grandson but someone dear to my heart. It really is final isn't it. My Anthony lives on in the music we shared. In that he is everywhere. M x

This is so beautiful, Amada. I'm sad to hear that your princely grandson has gone to Heaven much too soon. Your poem shows me how alive he is with the Lord, sending you the joy of shining light and robin's song.

Sometimes, our emotions do not allow us to see and use the right words when expressing an internal situation. You really find the prefect equilibrium between right words and the emotions they develop in readers. That happens only when the hand that writes is driven by the heart. Thanks for sharing your poetry, Amada!!

Hello Nancy,
Reading this brings January flying back into focus, with all those happy busy memories. It is lovely for me to finally read your full sonnet with illustration. You did an outstanding job. It is a wonderful mixture of whimsy (e.g. I watch a morning robin swoop and soar) and concrete description (e.g. the rumble of your boots lives on my stairway).
Are you going to join the May class? I am. It will be my birthday present for this year.
Love Katherine xx

How beautiful that your first sonnet is for Anthony and it is both a peaceful and heartfelt memorial to him.
I look forward to more sonnets from your pen.
Regards
Mary

Virtual Six.
Look, you deserved that for more than effort, we have not enough sixes.

You said the magic words. I love ''sonnets''

That is the whole point of writing. Write what you love...and how well you did, considering it is your first.

You have done the right thing in starting the class, and I can recommend Pantygynt as an excellent teacher, to all reading this. Kudos to the authors you mentioned also. That is what the site needs, togetherness, authors helping each other.

AS you know I am predominantly a classic man. I love a good classic sonnet, written in the style of the master. Yes we have the modern sonnet that when written well, is an equal joy to read, but I always think of a sonnet sounding much like the old classics, just a personal reference.

I like reading them, as said, but rarely write as there are various diversions from rules that are allowed but always brings discussions if wrong or right, so I go on reading and enjoying.

Sonnet

You opened well, you transferred and built on your opening to the body...then the turn (Volta) you inferred on the 9th line (good) In fact it can actually be n various lines, but for me, that is the place to be...and you used 'But' which is a change in direction with deviating from what was written. Bravo. I like to see a definite change of direction with 'Yet' or 'But'..there are couple of others, but those two are definitely nothing to argue about.

I might not have started your final couplet using 'But' again, but just out of preference, because you still closed it well.

So proud of you.
Carry on with the classes, you are in good hands. You write well, so don't lose your natural writing brain, keep it natural, and your own take and, gradually, personality and flare will come seeping through, with the help of the technical from Pantygynt (Jim) .

Keep it up...well done.
So proud of you.
Hope the eyesight is holding up.

My best wishes.

Have a good evening, and once again, well done.
RG

This is an uplifting sonnet for a life taken too soon, amada. I enjoyed reading it. You did a great job with the style of the English sonnet. Your words are heart-felt and precise. The image is a great pairing with your words, too. Thanks for sharing a piece of your heart.
Respectfully, Jan

I have lost parents and a sibling. Of course, I grieved, still do;
but I haven't lost a child or grandchild, so I really don't know how you feel! Your sonnet moved me deeply. It is very well done.

A truly beautiful tribute to dear sweet Anthony. A short life well lived. He had those that truly loved him. I'm sure he feels your love in Heaven. A very moving sonnet.

Congratulations. I would say that you received some class A, number one assistance. I lost my oldest daughter in 2006. I have some excellent memories of her, in part from her son whose face in almost an exact replica of hers. When he smiles it is like looking at her. Instead of hurting, it is uplifting because she left us a part of herself.
