Girl With The Gray Beret

I can see why a young girl would fantasize that Neruda was writing about her. You capture the essence of his style and ability to describe the girl. I especially like these images: "A grey beret fenced a curl of your hair but not your soul." "Autumn leaves nested in your heart. The stillness of your pastoral town echoed in your steps."

Haunting, lyrical--startling imagery: beret fenced curl but not soul--surface still as a lake but ocean roars--a lovely paean to your long-ago muse--who inspires you still!
