Such imagery! Crickets and frogs--things of my childhood days. Doing a syllable count looks hard. Your poem is centered beautifully. I enjoyed this short poem. Good post.

thaities, thank you a mere twenty-two days removed from official Spring, Yeah!

Spring is the best time of the year!

Excellent it suits the season now approaching and tames the syllables with great affection delivering an adequate knowledge with a picturesque and emotional sentiment.

That expression certainly comes true at that time of the year. I like your interpretation of the saying, in like a lion, out like a lamb. Your words have so much imagery it's easy to see the lion and the lamb as one roars and one hops gently in the fields. I really like that picture! :)) Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Smiling back! Thank you, enjoy the best that life bring you!

Good job with this even/odds poem. I wonder if the lamb would "skip" instead of "hop" - actually I guess the Bible speaks of this time - when the lion lies down with the lamb. that would be something to see.

Hi Gail trying to meet the requirement of the first and stanza being a synonym I find too restrictive I think skip would be far superior but not acceptable option. Thanks and have a grand day!
-
Oh that's why you used that word - didn't read the requirements - still, it is a good job.

A very well-written even the odds poem about the lion that is feared by all other creatures become as tame as a lamb when it is time for change.

Sandra, thank you much!

This is a good use of the lion and lamb as metaphors for harsh winter and simple tame Spring. It is a perfect picture to illustrate the words.
Good luck with the prompt.

Thanks Joan, gosh darn it took me too many tries on this one - I could not get my arms wrapped around the synonym until moments ago!

You're welcome

This is a fine evens odds poem and I enjoyed the sentiments here, this photo is of course fake because that lion could never sit with a lamb, but your message here is clear and I enjoyed this poem, love Dolly x

And so the Ides of March begins. Evidently, it must not be very good from the sounds of it. Your poem makes some sense of it. By taming the lion and causing the lamb to purr. Looks like you got everything under control!

Patty, if life was so simple. But we have twenty-three days until the calendar informs us it is Spring.

Hello mystery writer. I have seen this format before and I understand the format. Your poem fits the format as I understand it. Something I noticed was the fact that the lamb purred. I was looking for a bleat. :)))

I would have loved the bleat, but alas that dang synonym rule -- so restrictive. But, the good news is we have twenty-three days until the calendar informs us it is Spring! Bleat, Bleat!
