This is a quite philosophical poem about how midnight's quiet calls people and sometimes its peace calms them. It also brings to mind fairies callling a mortal into the wooded glade at night. It is also mournful.
Keep writng

I like this tony,Your poem does what all good poetry does for me and that is it engages the imagination. Your free verse is very well composed and flows very well. A pleasure to read.

I will happily hand over a 6 for this. I am not familiar with your writing as a poet but I see that it is very much to my free verse taste. You have picked out the best line for your title, 'beyond the wit of daylight hours' ... the next ones being 'the music of deeper worlds' or 'into the fleeting sails of friendship'.
I like how your poem carried me from a reflective moment by a pool, where solitude put me in touch with the mystery world which connects us to our past and present (in ancient grains of sand and pulsing veins.)

Thanks very much, LisaMay. I haven?t been writing much poetry recently, because of the novel. However, it is my first love. I very much appreciate the sixth star - great validation. I?m glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes, Tony.

I relished your images throughout this free verse, from the "silent pools" to the "pulsing veins". Your focus on "friendship" is intensified with your alliteration of "b's" and "f's". Well done- Joan

This is a beautiful free verse that captures a mood that goes beyond words. It makes me think about that twilight of consciousness when we are perhaps more in tune with the timelessness of our souls.

What a meandering poem. Lots of wandering philosophising in there. Well done my old prose writer, now a poet. Looking forward to your next chapter. Great layout, no spags.

The descriptions of the day turning to night and in dreams, takes you further into a land of make-believe, the music of nature and birdsong and the breaking into a new day... The imagery is gorgeous.
Best,
Sylvia

I really liked this; it had a light, airy feel, very musical, with nice echoing rhyme effects and a soft, gentle breeze of a meter. You also had some great images in it; the silent pools of moonlight, the birds rising out of the mist, the dreams bound to the clay, the sails of friendship and the ancient grains of sand. There's a mysterious sense of the deeper meanings of life, the spiritual beneath the physical, like a shadow under a person. It was very romantic, really. estory

A very well-written free verse poem about the starting of a new day before the light shines on the horizon the birds start to wake up and chirping without end to wake up all who can hear.
