And some are truly wrong. True love is love that lasts awhile. Not a fleeting one-night stand - or even a few years and then "chuck it". Romance is only part of it. Commitment is the other part.
Nice poem.

Dang!
This is simply gorgeously presented, and one cannot help but agree that it seems romance has become but a temporary pipe dream.
I cannot imagine this failing to do good in the contest.
Thanks bunches for sharing! ~ Richard : )

I think any love poem is worth reading. The reason yours's stands out for me, is the "novel" play on words. I liked that very much. I wish you well in the contest.

I like your poem! The picture ou chose reminds me of Gone With the Wind of Scarlet and Rhett Butler. And I thought the play on words was cute, It's a novel idea!

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the romance in true love that many see as only a novel idea and that true love cannot exist in rea life where there is too much drama that prevent true love.

A truly wonderful love poem, but I would check the syllable count on you last line, as I count "novel idea" as four, not five syllables. I do wish you all the best with this entry!

Thanks, fm, it's already been changed!

Good! I am going to re-read it!

My bad, I thought you were pointing out that "a novel idea" (the original version) was too many syllables, which it was. "Novel idea" is 5 syllables.

You're right!

This 5-7-5, Lovelorn, has the right set up and makes a jest of those too-good-to-be-true men with their integrity, passion, and good looks. Most men have a six-pack, but they drink them for lunch.

In my opinion, definitely a clever write with its imagery and succinctly astute pun - a striking presentation in both verse and well chosen picture - however, not compliant with the prompt. The last line has 6 syllables, versus the required 5 - "idea" has 3 syllables - how about the word "thought, " which is 1...

That's a great way to put it. Very true, as I see my wife engrossed in one book after another. It is truly a novel idea. Hope it comes through of you.

I love the last line which turns the whole piece upside down for me. I also love the humor of it and the thoughtfulness in which it is written. Well done and good luck. xoxo Kiwi
