Growing up and living most of my adult life in Minnesota, winters have a tendency to be long. At the same time, I enjoy all the seasons and that includes winter. The words in your poem are accurate and sincere. I have never ridden a horse during the winter but I imagine it would be a very positive experience. Good luck in the contest.

You have made excellent use of all your syllables in this frosty 5-7-5
about winter's breath. "Affirmation of life" is an apt description of that vapor that we emit into the air.

This poem made me think of all the times I blew my breath in the cold air like smoke. With all this hot weather breaking forth, I needed to be reminded of the joys of winter once more, until winter comes and I yearn for summer again lol.
