Hello Mystery Poet,

As a Canadian, I struggle with some of your history. I love to read everything I can get my hands on about Lincoln, but Custer doesn't really grab my interest. Now you tell me he failed at West Point. Wow! I'm now curious how he managed to rise in ranks to be a General. He died in battle, so the Klingons of Star Trek would say that is a high honor. I guess I will have to read up on Custer.

Best wishes in the contest.

Joy xx

He actually graduated West Point, it was war time standards were lowered. He was an aide to two generals. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Great poem!! Just great. To me, Custer was a loser. I am part Sioux and just have no sympathy. I am a wily hostile, LOL You have done a splendid job with the form and this will be a great contest entry!! Best of luck.

Thank you. You know what the Sioux called Custer's Last Stand? Tuesday, just another day, LOL. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Hello Author! Good job! And I absolutely love the artwork you chose to go with the poetry! It's wonderful! I see you struggle with the same question I do... "Do I need the language warning?" I mean the word is only 'ass' and it's only because he was almost tossed out on it, not some other frightful way of using it... not that I can really think of one, but I bet others can... anyway... the poem was great! Lots of fun! Good job author! lol

I erred on the side of caution with the warning. Sure as God made little green apples if I hadn't of put it there someone would have complained. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

That was excellent! You have given us Custer's whole life story in this brilliant rhyming poem. He wouldn't wait, would he? Had to do it on his own with a small platoon of men, nowhere near the amount that Crazy Horse had. This is an excellent contest entry. Well done and good luck! Sandra xxx

This poem, Custer, has a nice pace and covers the highlights of the man's military career. He was, before going to his last stand, the head of the Bureau for Indian Affairs. The joke by some indigenous people is that when he left that office for the day he told them not to do anything until he got back.

Well Custer was a good choice and much history there to glean. Your rhyming worked well and made the poem flow. Good Luck, if the contest is still open.

A very well-written poem about heroes. They are all around us and sometimes we don't even notice them until they do something to confirm their heroism.

Good choice! Patton would definitely have been a challenge. You've managed to squeeze a fair bit of history into this poem. It always fascinates me to realise how many famous figures in the world were no great shakes at school.

I like the line: Nearly thrown from West Point on his ass--and the next line--finishing dead last in his class.
You added some humor and that's great. I am not a poet, so I might be wrong, but I wondered if the beats in each line should perhaps match more closely. If I'm right, there's time to fix them before the contest. If I'm wrong, it won't be the first time. So forgive me. Either way, I hope you win the contest!
