A virtual 6 is all I can give this amazing Halloween poem, if it doesn't win the jackpot then something is seriously wrong with the judges! The poem itself, the rhyme, the perfect metre, everything is so brilliant. The content is as ghoulish and scary as anyone would want and the scariest thing of all is the last line! Trouble is, I think it's true!! So well done! Good luck in the contest! :)) Sandra.

Love that word: Demonagerie!! Fabulous!

"Demonagerie", that's very good, Craig, I like that, heh-heh-heh.
What daemon worth its weight in maggot-riddled flesh could possibly stand up to the evil mankind is capable of?
I can't think of a single one.
This was an excellent poem and it is sure to do well in the contest.
Remember, you heard that here first.
Best of luck!
~Dean

This is a great entry. Excellent choice of words. As far as I can understand, you saying that even the devil and his minions are afraid of how much evil humans do on their own. Terrifying concept. This is a marvelous piece. Good luck!

A very well-written Halloween poem. The devil's followers running scare and starts to scream like spoiled brats. Those who are not on the right side are not with the right side, a sign anti-rights.

A very clever poem with a hint of truth to it. We are a very scary race sometimes, although I think by and large most people are good. A very inventive twist for the contest. Thanks for sharing. Happy Halloween!

Askance! A new word for me, ... neat! This could be a story with all the detail and imagery! Fun read CD and best of luck in the contest too. I appreciate this as you can tell a lot of work went into it! :)

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

To be really picky, I am sure he hatched his plot, rather than unhatched it, Think of the logic of unhatching eggs!

That aside, this is a wonderfully imaginative piece; the creatures are suitably scary, the unexpected ending is effective and the abab rhyme works well. The presentation is great, too.

Hints of Hitchhiker's Guide in the description of the third rock from the sun and a wonderful (and funny) piece of invention in demonagerie.

Good luck.

Steve

Thanks so much for the wonderful review, Steve; and for picking up that glitch. Of course it should be "hatched", which doesn't scan at all. I changed it to "unveiled". Most grateful! Craig

You probably didn't need to change it. The meaning was clear, and I would have bet that no one else noticed!

Oooh. And you managed to use that word/name at the end. I thought you were going to a more political horror poem. It is horrifying the things that humankind can do and have done but for those of us who do believe in the spirit world, we attribute some of the evils that happen to those dark forces.

And a most finely rhymed and metred ghoulish tale you have spun, Craig. And the consolation prize is, man is so heinous we have even trumped the most evil of the evil.

Excellent artwork choice too as those alien minions look most terrified.

Best wishes to you in the contest with this gem, and I hope you have a few days left to spend the dough. Mwaaaaaahahhaa.
