Holy cow! So Helen's had this journal all along, and that's what those men are after. This doesn't bode well for any of the three. I'm really hooked now, and can hardly wait to see what happens next.

This chapter is intriguing and implies mystery - yet again. It is a very intricate story you're weaving here, Tony. You give the reader a lot of information as you clip ahead with the least words.

Excellent work, as always.

Both Helen and I turned to Madame Durand. ~ You could drop the "Both", Tony; it's redundant. I must have missed it in the last chapter's read.

Hi Tony, the plot is slowly starting to unravel, but I have a feeling there's much more to it than meets the eye. I wonder about the sister and will journals be where they're supposed to be. This is a great story, well told, and well paced. All the best. Ulla:))

Well now I think we can be fairly certain that the journal will prove to be considerably less secure than they hop, but that is for the future. This is the present and some of the mystery is beginning slowly to unravel. I am honourd that Madame Durand has been rechristened as I suggested. I have nothing so earth-shaking to offer on this occasion I am afraid. I still have that feeling that Tintin and Snowy are going to appear, or something/one very similar as it is that kind of story. The bad guys are undoubtedly very bad and will be unshaven, and carrying bags labelled swag when we eventually see them.

Yes those bad guys are very much as they would be depicted in a Tintin adventure - shadowy stereotypes. I may have to end up giving them a bit more personality one day!

This work has reached the exceptional level

This is weaving more and more into a thoroughly tangled and engaging mystery. The characterisations are good and the pacing is super.

We used to go to Muay Thai classes every week - 'the art of the eight limbs'." - needs opening speech marks here.

I like the extended metaphor of the fairy tale.

Thanks, Gareth. My daughter had a photographic exhibition based on the young boys who find a way out of poverty by becoming Muay Thai fighters. She spent several very interesting months with a group of them on Phuket Island a few years ago.
I appreciate the six stars and catching the missing speech marks again - I seem to be making a bit of a habit of that, despite proof-reading.

Great chapter, Tony. This had much info in a small space. But, it also set up some other opportunities for intrigue as the 3 of them make their escape. Good job and thanks for sharing. Jan

Thanks, Jan. Every time I catch up a loose string in the story, I seem to weave two more to replace it! I don't think I'd make a very successful spider! LOL

As the plot is unravelling and taking it deeper, apparently Helen has things written in her journal that the mafia want very much. But what of her sister, Madame Durand seem to think she's incredibly resourceful, so she's alive...she thinks, well done Tony, blessings, Roy

Thanks, Roy. The pace seems to be getting uncomfortably hot for these two now - or possibly three, with Mme Durand now with them. Thanks for your review and comments. Appreciated. Tony
