I enjoyed your poem although I hate any kind of mushroom to eat or see in the yard. You did a great job with the rhymes, alliteration, smooth flow & message. I know this is more than just about mushrooms. Great picture, too. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Beautiful. My family calls me fey, so, yes, I can see the fairies chanting and weaving their magic, perhaps taking a rest on a mushroom stool. Odd, that they grew in a circle! Loved this whimsy!! Blessings....

Beautifully written fantasy poem, Did you search for the picture and write the poem about it or the other way around? I love the story you tell. My favorite stanza is the first one, describing the circle of mushrooms. Your choice of words is excellent, and the flow and meter are great. I love and notice your rhymes, which fit the accent from Austrailia. Your enticing descriptions are well written, as always. I'm not one who loves fantasy stories, but you did a great job writing in that genre.

Many thanks for your kind words. Most affirming and appreciated. Yes, mushrooms and other fungi do sometimes grow in rings. I'm not sure why. Ancient European folklore associates them with fairies and suggests that those who step inside the ring may be spirited away to fairyland, never to return. Best wishes, Tony

Great rhyming and flow and I like the intricate language too. It deserves all the seals it gets. I also tend to like poems with a magical, fantasy or fairy-tale feeling to them, so the image of the third verse brought a smile on my face.

Mushrooms and other fungi do sometimes grow in rings of this kind, but not often quite so definite as pictured here. European folklore suggests that they are fairy rings and imbues them with magical properties. Best wishes, Tony
