A very touching commentary. I had four brothers and one sister. One by one I watched them all die. Now, there's only me. Don't wait until it's too late to tell what they mean to you.

Thank you Thomas for your excellent review and I totally agree with your comments. Happy Thanksgiving. Bill

Good message for the holidays when there are many extended family gatherings to make sure we don't leave "things unsaid" and to appreciate all those we love. Good use of "they" to avoid he/she when the number of syllables are so limited.

So true. You did well on this. I have been in the position of regretting my failure to say things to people before they are gone. Then, it's too late. Well written and a very good topic.

You know, it never fails to amaze me that a couple can be married for over fifty years and the only time the wife's husband was ever known to buy his wife flowers was on the day of her funeral. I hear stories like that all the time and scratch my head in amazement and wonder while asking myself, 'How in the world did their marriage last for over fifty years?'
It seems much more meaningful to me to gift my beloved with flowers while she's alive.
Your nonet is very well composed, and your poignant accompanying photo really drives your message home.
Best wishes to you in the contest.

How true, how true! I am a strong believer of telling your loved ones your feelings, and not taking life for granted. I don't believe in "could have", "would have" and "should have."
Your nonet is compelling and thought-provoking. You exercised the format flawlessly. Good luck in the contest.

Very well written theme on a universal subject all people deal with at one time or another. The only possible glitch is counting "they're" as one syllable. If one pronounces it as "their" it counts as one syllable. If pronounced as "they-er" it becomes two, similar to "fire," sometimes counted as one or two. It's a gray area. Good luck on the contest.

Author, so very true. Death is an assured expectation which befalls us all. And yes, it is the absolute worst sting of life imaginable. We must make each day count. Thank you for sharing and best wishes on the contest.

This is very nice with a heartfelt sadness. Seems to hit all the requirements for the contest. I especially like how you presented "with things unsaid." How true.
Good luck in the contest
