I enjoyed your poem very much. The descriptive language flowed well. The artwork was great for the theme of the poem.
Thanks so much for sharing.

I love how this goes from melancholy to bliss
when the speaker sees one little word from
someone special. so true to life.
The imagery sets the mood beautifully.
A beautiful heartfelt free verse.
also loved seeing the Platters sing one
of their best. thanks for sharing.

You've got a good one here, Missy. The theme, the story of feelings and mystery of love unfold at a perfect rate. There's a tenderness in this I find very attractive as you're conducting this response in a cerebral place, deep emotions and imagination responding to memory and just one word. I have only one minor suggestion.
With just five little letters ... "hello"...remove 'just'; it's one of the no-no words of writing as it adds nothing to meaning and only impedes flow.

Wow, I am over the moon, right now, Mark! I don't get many "Exceptional" ratings from you. :)
Thanks you !
Always,

BTW ...I did as suggested :)

"Only You," by the Platters, one of my all-time favorites. Then, your new picture looks just like Priscilla Presley, before she had her face messed up with plastic surgery. And another fine poem. Great job. :-)

I had to stop my review in mid sentence to watch one of my all-time favorite groups sing one of my all-time favorite songs. Then I got caught up in the couple at the table, who became a trio at the table ... what kinda romantic deal was that?
Missy, it's so good to hear from you again. I LOVE this poem. It speaks of coming from a dark place to the brightness that love and hope bring.
You're in true form, my dear.

very good and nicely done, a great free verse love poem on the excitement of receiving an email from a loved one on a lonely night. Nice job and have a wonderful day.

Hello there, William, thanks for this lovely review :)

Your poem expresses how the pendulum of emotions can swing suddenly from the doldrums to happiness with just the right words from just the right person. You captured this experience beautifully in your poem. The free verse form lends itself to someone talking to herself, and the word choices are vivid.

A-h-h-h-hhhhh, yes. The scintillating, soothing sounds of rain. The gentle rumbling of thunder as it rolls across the heavens in the distance. Such simple pleasures...or, perhaps they are sounds which elicit a melancholy mourning, depending upon your personal perspective.
This was lovely, Missy, such seductively subtle sentiments expressed in poetry.
Bravo...

I think this could be much more than a poem, you could easily have made this into song lyrics. Not that there is any thing wrong with it being just a poem. Very well done.
