What a lovely poem, full if Brooke from beginning to end, I thought it was a great tribute to the esteem Brooke is held in, I thought its essence was perfect, I'm sure she will be overwhelmed by the support and love that is held for her on this site, when she returns and reads all these lovely poems,
Andrew

Thanks, Andrew, and I hope she enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it in her honor. I believe in the power of love and healing. With all of the love and support sent Brooke's way, she she be up and about in no time flat. ~Dean

This is a brilliant poem for Brooke. She loves dandelions and she has written many counting poems.Thank you ver much for writing this.
First I thought she might have gone to stay with Sawyer .Then in one poem she had mentioned that she was not feeling alright. I thought it might be virus fever or some other seasonal problem that all of us usually get.I was also not coming to the sit for some time.you wrote 'bring Brooke home again'- I hope by home you meant fanstory and that she is not hospitalised.May I ask what her trouble is ? My prayers for her speedy recovery. I miss her poems very much.

Thanks for the six stars, Sanku, and for the wonderful things you've expressed in relation my poem dedicated to Brooke. Brooke has an advanced for of MS, Multiple Sclerosis, and is in a care facility. So yes, I did mean for Brooke to come back here, to all of us, and her "home away from home."
Thanks again for reading. I appreciate your time, my friend. ~Dean

This was written in such a way that I had to check to see if Brooke actually wrote it. You have an amazing talent. From horror to melodic poetry. I have been away for several weeks now and I was unaware of Brooke's absence. Did something happen to her? My thoughts and prayers go out to her for a quick and full recovery. Gretchen

Her sister passed recently, then Brooke discovers she has an advanced stage of MS. It seemed to come about very suddenly. One week she was here, posting her lovely poetry and reviewing, and the next...gone.
I could in no way claim to even come close to matching Brooke's amazing and gifted talents with the writing of my ode to her. But it is from the heart, and meant to cheer her up. I hope she enjoys it, and I'm very glad that you did, Gretchen. It's so great to hear from you again, my friend. ~Dean

One last seed, a lighter fellow
I'm sending to our friend,
aglow in vivid sunshine yellow,
to bring Brooke home again.

Perfect. She will love this counting poem. I love love love this last stanza.
Excellent.

    I have to give a nod to I am Cat for her help with the last line, skye. She made it read so-o-o much better than it did initially. I'm happy that you took the time to read the poem, and that you think Brooke will enjoy it. I sure hope so. :}

Outstanding job here, DeanO. You are really quite the poet. I haven't written one yet, because quite frankly everybody has copped all the good ideas. LOL..I wrote Brooke a personal note. she knows I love her.

The last stanza in your poem is the best, my man:

Bravo! Bob

Thanks for checking it out, Bob. It nearly killed me to write "nice" -- not my usual forte, if you get my drift. But, Brooke has done a lot to help me improve, and her poetry is always so inspiring. The complete antithesis of my own. So, that being said, I felt that it was the very least I could do.
Thanks again, Bob. I really appreciate your comments, my friend. ~DeanO

Hello Dean,

"Ten Tiny Dandelion Seeds" written in the essence of Brooke.

I especially liked:

Seven now were still afloat,
yet one soon fell to earth.
A poet saw, wrote a note
of beauty and its worth.

(Our #1 Poet wrote many notes, indeed)

Just sharing my afterthoughts:

And so ...
A poet saw a dandelion
and to her delight
it had ten seeds of friendship
that multiplied
before the morning light

Dean, Our #1 Poet, Lady, and Friend, would highly approve your poem. This poem was written in the true spirit of Brooke. Just lovely. Wonderful artwork choice. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

p.s. FYI, your name can be read, but the title of your poem cannot be read because you have black fonts on black background.

Thanks very much for the kind words concerning this ode to Brooke, LateBloomer. I sincerely appreciate you sharing your thoughts, opinions and six stars with me. Brooke and her entire family are in my nightly prayers. I will try to change the font color of the title, although I think it is generated by the site, and by default, is always white in color. I'll do my best, and thanks so much again.~Dean

I have to say.... (shhhh... don't tell anyone) This has to be my very favorite of all dandelion poems!
I absolutely love it... It's sort of like... "He loves me... He loves me not..." Only it's not.... (or maybe... one little monkey jumping on the bed....)
anyway... I just love the effect that counting down gives...
and the lovely alliteration is just mouth-watering.

'Eight puffy wisps so pale
wafting on the breeze,
one touched down in shaded dale
'neath whispering willow trees.'

(SNAG! did you hear that? Yep... you just snagged my heart with that willow tree!)

'A poet saw, wrote a note
of beauty and its worth.'
(ummm... yeah, what good would the scene be without the poet?)

'Six seeds sailed silently
along a country road,
one tiny single seed
bathed a countryside in gold.'
(ummm... speaking of GOLD! This stanza is definitely gold!...
It's delightful to the tongue... and tantalizing all at once)

'one fell into marshy reeds,
where it is still detained.'
(poor little guy)

'Two tufted spores now tossed
upon a lavish lawn,
one still wished to travel more,
the other stayed to spawn.'
(jeez, you've got the tongue dancing and spawning?) awesome!

'One last seed, a lighter fellow
I'm sending to our friend,
aglow in vivid sunshine yellow,
so she'll return to us again.'
(loved! this... EXCEPT (you knew there would have to be something?) the last line... love the idea.... but it seems to have an extra beat in there which trips up my tongue....the rest flows, but this doesn't work?)

perhaps....
'aglow in vivid sunshine yellow,
to Bring back Brooke again!"

????? (but saying that out loud is nearly impossible for me....)
or...
"aglow in vivid sunshine yellow,
to bring Brooke home again!"

? (that might be better)
then again.... you might like the extra beat?

in that case... carry on! lol

In any case, i absolutely loved it!
Cat

Ha-ha! I promise, I won't tell a solitary soul that this is your fave, Cat. I gotta give you a "shout out" too for help with that pesky last line. It's been bothering me since I wrote it, and...you know how it goes. You feel something's not quite right, but you just can't seem to put your finger on the problem? You did, and I'm very grateful. I mentioned you in my authors' notes for assisting me.
So, thanks so much again for your kind and thoughtful words, you help, and the six stars. I'm very grateful to you for all.

So not my style, Barb -- you're 100% correct, lol! But, after all that Brooke has taught me and done for me to help me become a better writer as well as poet, I felt it was the very least that I could do to try not to scare her to death. I really hopes she likes this, and that it brightens up her day a bit. I thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments, and your six stars as well. All are very much appreciated, my friend. ~Dean

Your poem is a wonderful tribute to Brooke. Like all others at this site, I miss her terribly. I always looked forward to her wonderful counting poems which were a delight for youngsters and adults alike. I join in prayers for her recovery and return to us. Evi

It's just not the same around here without Brooke's guidance, and uplifting poetry, is it, Evi? At least it doesn't feel the same to me. I know how much Brooke adores dandelions. And we all know how wonderful her countdown poems are. I just tried to do as best I could to combine those two things she loves so much, in the hopes that it lifts her spirits, and causes Brooke to smile.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and six stars with me. I very much appreciate it. ~Dean
