Thanks for sharing this awesome presentation! Shedding light on a fear
many poets have reading or reciting their poetry due to common stage
fright, compared to all those you noted over came far more ominous
challenges than mere stage fright! Assuring and enlightening, and
a vital message shared.
So often, those with serious challenges and conditions are the ones
who teach us the most about courage, bravery and perseverance. All
the ones you witnessed certainly did and then some!
I hope your friend overcomes her fear someday and does try it.
Very informative and appreciated read.

Thank you, Ronnie, for your kind, spot on review on how fear prevents us from reaching out potential. I am glad you found my poem to be an informative read.

'But I have yet to hear you
who cowers in the audience at open mics
who fears the voice whispered through quivered lips
unable to amplify the voice shouted within'
a powerful message for the poet who has a face, yet has no voice.
This reminds me of the ones i've spoken to who suffered with Eating disorders... Who lacked the voice, which screamed inside them... and they often too it out on themselves, because they couldn't find the voice to say what was eating them.
I found this (especially these lines) to be a resounding voice in itself. Well played, poet... well played.
I enjoyed it to the last curtain.

To I am Cat from Sis Cat:
Thank you for your kind review. Lacking a voice and the courage to scream or even whisper it is the worse thing that can happen to a person. I am glad you enjoyed my poem to the last curtain. Thanks for your review.

This poem is wonderful. It captures the essence of poetry, the expression of a mind when a light goes on. Anyone can write poetry - just open your mouth and speak. Thank you for sharing.

This is a truly remarkable poem, Sis Cat, and an inspiration showing, as it does, the indominatable nature of the human spirit and the basic human need to express what is within, by any means possible. The open mic is a fiend to be faced and conquered.

Yes, to witness what these poets went through to share their voice--sign language or talking computers, wheeling on stages that are accessible, crawling on stages that are not--empowers me to push myself to share my work by any means necessary. I am thrilled my poem moved you and I am thrilled you gave it a six star review.

Thank you, NicciFaye, for your fine, six star review. When I saw what these poets accomplished they empowered me to try harder in my own writing and performance so I will not remain voiceless. Thanks for your review.

Surely poetry is an oral art form and needs to be heard. How else can we hear the cadence sing. Is not the sound of it, the living pulse of the piece. More importantly how can the soul, or 'Duende' be released? We are not talking about anything intellectual or sentimental. -Ekim777

Yes, Ekim777, let us not forget that poetry is an oral art form. Thank you for your review and for acknowledging this.

I wish we had a place in town for poetry reading. Great tribute to all the poets and especially to those who fear reading in public.

Well done. You have to like encouragement for people to express their thought no matter how they choose. You write well and I think you are a credit to your profession.
