OMG, this one is gory!!! During my nightmares, I dream that I wake up and they are real, over and over again until eventually I wake up for real. Sort of a dream within a dream. Don;t know if you could use that somehow. Have a blessed day~Debbie

Thanks for the story idea, as well as your very thoughtful and generous review, Debbie. What sorts of things happen to you in your dream? Is it anything in particular that scares you, or is it the fact that you feel you are doomed in the dream to repeat the same scenario, over and over again? ~Dean

They vary a lot, but always have the threat of harm to me. I'll right some down. If I forget, remind me. Take care, my friend~Debbie

I was wondering how the twist would play out. That was a surprise with how you used the bathroom mirror. Boy, I can't get that image out of my head. No sleep for me. I'm in a motel room, and now I won't let my hand fall down. A story with poetic flare.

Oops! Sorry about that Stan, heh-heh. The "monster under the bed" has terrified generations o children, and many adults, believe it or not. It's the not knowing that makes stories like this so terrifying, I think.

Credit for this idea goes out to girrafmang, Stan, a fellow member here. If you have any spooky stories you believe would make for good flash fiction fare, don't hesitate to shoot me a message.

    Thanks for the sixer, and your awesome comments. I appreciate it, and keep those hands ON the bed. LOL. ~Dean :}

You know, I really do have to stop reading your stories at night...although they are more effective that way, I suppose, and where do you get your graphics?

You may be the only person I know who can scare the crud out of me in 200 words or less!

Rhonda

Well, thank you for that wonderful compliment, Rhonda. That means that I'm doing something right at least, heh-heh. Yes, these stories will give you the most impact when read by candlelight. I highly recommend it.

A lot of my animations are those I have saved on my photobucket.com account. I'd recommend you get one, it is totally free. You can store photos and animations there which have a html code that you can copy, then paste into your post, authors notes, replies (like this)...

If you sign up, let me know and I will explain (as best I can) how to use it.

Thanks again for your thoughtful comments. They are appreciated. :} ~Dean

I will certainly do so. Sounds like fun. I like some of the artwork on fanart, but it doesn't always tell the story well enough.

I noticed your horror story prompt last night and started to take a "stab" at horror, but there were only a few hours left and I didn't want to hurry something I was just trying to learn.
I might try again later, though, but I'll probably scare myself.
    Thanks

That is just too horrible, but it is morbidly well written. The audio introduction is great. As you may know, my cat's name is Buttons. I am glad that you made the poor pet a dog (although I love dogs). Evi

I was not aware of that, Evi. It would have been super creepy for you had I made Buttons in this story a cat, would it not, heh-heh... Darn it!

In all sincerity, I'm happy you enjoyed this story. I'm an avid dog lover and owner of three little dogs myself. I'd be mortified if anything happened to any one of them.

Thanks for reading, and for the very generous rating as well. As always, I really appreciate it. ;)

Dean - I tried to review Jack and Jill after this one. It came up with a reply in the review box - it wouldn't allow me to enter a reply or a rating. Evi

Thanks, Evi. I wonder what's up with that?

    I'll look into it...

Hi, Dean, another great chapter in your mini series of terror tales. The artwork is exemplary and I like that you leave the horror in the reader's mind! Great work again, best wishes, Pete :)

Damn, you give a whole new meaning to flash fiction. Short and not so sweet. We had a puppy named Buttons but he, happily, lived a long and not so eventful life. Great work with this one. I look forward to the next post.

I had a dog named Buttons too, Sasha, but it was years ago. He lived quite a long time as well.

Thanks for taking an interest in this series. I took on the challenge as a way of tightening up my prose. Hopefully, it helps!

Much obliged for the awesome comments and exceptional rating, my friend.

    Be well. :} ~Dean

This is yet another interesting post from the author. I just loved the picture. We all have had bad dreams from time to time, but they always seem so real. So do these poems.

Thank you very much, Thomes, I really appreciate that.

I don't know if you've ever tried your hand at writing micro fiction or flash fiction, but it is extremely difficult to do and still get the point across. Of course, I have never tried to write a script, so...

    Thanks again, my friend. ~Dean

I have tried short stories and poems, but like you said, it is more difficult in short form to get the point across. I take my hat off to you.

Short and not so sweet, but as well written as always, serving to etch pictures in the library of our minds to keep looking before we touch, afraid of the shadows. Great job. :-)

Heh-heh no, not sweet at all, Ric, LOL.

Thanks for reading yet another story in this flash fiction series. I appreciate your time and the six star rating, my friend. I'm glad you're enjoying them. :) ~Dean

I am reviewing this in the early afternoon far away from my bedtime.

This is a beautiful but horrific piece. Makes me wonder what is beneath her bed, licking her bed, and tearing Buttons to pieces. Flash fiction story has a good fright ending to balance out the sweetness of the beginning.

Now I can get a good night's sleep.

That's good, Sis Cat. I'm happy to know that I have in no way kept you up at night.

You sleep tight now, and don't worry about those scratching sounds coming from beneath your bed. It's probably nothin'...

    Heh-heh.~Dean ;)

Gross, sick, yuk gross. But so darn good. Shivers. Poor baby. How could you do that to that little girl (excellent). OK another creepy , spin tingling thought. You are bringing back my childhood nightmares. Oh Dean, how cruel.

I remember one night, several years ago, I woke up briefly , my arm hanging off the side of the bed, to feel something holding my hand.
