Poor old Santa, 'sentenced' to oblivion for another 12 months, unless he can re-invent himself. I'll bet he has an Easter Bunny suit stashed away somewhere though! Happy New Year to you!

Tony, I'm betting he has floppy ears and a pink nose somewhere. Maybe even an Uncle Sam outfit for July. :-)

Ho, Ho, Ho
This is both clever and funny. Yes, there's nothing more redundant than a Santa in January. Banished from the Malls. Probably go back to setting up displays in stores. Your final line, is, of course, the key to Ho,ho, hos. Not Santa Claus, but the punny 'subordinate clause', that grammatically inferior, who hasn't such a big contract, who works in the mall between Santa gigs. Good senryu, as it is an ironic view of the human condition.
Very enjoyable.

That last line is perfect....what a perfect end to the year and perfect end to a haiku. Subordinate clauses is a grammatical term as you obviously know, meaning dependent on the context around it to make complete....just like Santa needs Christmas....great job.

Thanks goodness, reviews caught the last line too although in the end I changed it to "dependent clauses" just to make sure.

I always hated to be working for a boss and engineered things to be my own boss so I can imagine Santa's position
Good satori line and superb presentation.
Happy New Year to you and your family

Hey, I call it a good poem when it brings out the creativity in others. Got a kick out of your word play.
