I LOVE a rehashed legend. Great story. At this time of the year, there is always a plethora of stories about the jolly fat man.
There's even a story on this site portraying him as a child molestor.

Many thanks for your thoughts on this. The child molester Santa is an entry into a competition I set up to tell tales on the darker sider of Christmas! Much appreciated. GMG

I very much look forward o the sequel. That the magic creatures are ready to defend and rescue the waning magic of the world is a great concept. Your characters have personality and depth. I hope Santa can still keep believing until the magic is again strong and viable. What will we do without it?

OMG - talk about strange coincidences - I swear, Gareth - I JUST finished a poem and author's notes wherein I mention Snow White...WEIRD! (I haven't posted it yet, but I promise you, I wrote the poem and notes before ever reading this marvelous story!!!)
edit:
"...shillelagh to ya again(!) (r)eplied the..."
I am completely and wholly charmed, my friend, and only sorry I am once again bereft of sixes. This is, bar none, the sweetest Christmas story I have ever read. The only other suggestion I would make is to resist the temptation to write very many fragmented sentences - otherwise, it's perfection, and I am POSITIVE with those small 'tweakings' you could publish with the finest of literary magazines, catering to the very best authors.
OUTSTANDING. (Do I need to tell you I would have been shocked if this DIDN'T win?)

Hi Dawn, I like to think I've come along way since I wrote this! Maybe I haven't, who knows. I know I enjoyed this one and am writing a sequel of sorts as we speak for this Christmas.
Much appreciated as always,
G

Gareth, perhaps technically (in a few, very minor spots) but man, believe me - this is awesome!!!

This is an interesting post that the author has created with this piece of writing. This world certainly does need magic in order to exist. The fact that we are here in the first place is nothing short of a miracle.

Delete unnecessary 'that's.'
Try to avoid worlds like felt, heard, saw, smelled. The Ten Percent Solution: Self-Editing for the Modern Writer helped my writing improve.
Who do. . . " he asked.
Put a comma before 'and' when words, clauses, or phrases are in a sentence. Also put a comma before 'and' when you write 'and then.'
towards should be toward
"Aw, Jay-sus. . . ," replied. . .
Good story.

Many thanks Karlene, this was an old post from around a year ago and I thought I'd leave it intact as it was then. My writing is pretty different now! Much appreciated. GMG

A Magical Christmas Tale "A Christmas Rescue" This is the time of year that we hear of many fine stories told about Christmas time. Santa can often be human as well. Very well done.

Romanticism isn't dead! All will be right on the night. A well-constructed, well phrased and enjoyable read. Try a little of your magic on our commercial brothers.

This is a brilliant story from the very first sentence to the heart warming end. Just the sort of story a fantasy writer like me would love! I think you've restored my twinkle as well. Nicely done. Had I any 6's left, this one would get two!!! You've inspired me to go back to posting my novella I started when I first joined the site!
Great job,
I Believe!!

I read this story about Santa Claus and what I find interesting from reading some of your other posts is your diversity in genre. Have you published or works or are you seeking publication?
Your writing is good. I am learning from reading your writing.

Hi there,
Many thanks for the review on this one. my writing has moved on considerably from this post, I think. A large part of that is down to the help and advice I have gotten here on the site. I only started writing in September 2014 when I joined the site on a whim.
I have had several pieces traditionally published over the last year, and won some competitions off-site. The site is great for editing and trying things out on.
In regards to reviewing, if giving a four star review it would be best to give some suggestions as how the piece could be improved. We writers can get a little peeved with a four star if not accompanied by something constructive! LOL
All the best
GMG

I thought I have you 5 stars?

Nah four. Sometimes it slips! been there. you can back and change it if you wish. If you go to comments and call up your review you can edit the rating and comments, if you wish.
-
Sorry! Correction made...you have 5 stars now
