LOL! I hate grocery shopping, so I can relate. I've been out of food many a time. Hubby eats a big lunch at work, so he doesn't mind. He's happy snacking on dried out cheese. LOL! I even ate a can of asparagus hearts for dinner once. Tasty, but next day, I hit the store. :)

I remember when my husband worked nights. I ate a big lunch and snacked alone for dinner. It had its advantages for sure.

Hello Spitfire, A fun and timely 5-7-5 poem. Energy is ruling our life and creating chaos. I especially liked:
car locked in garage
(good imagery.)
Hopefully, the milk didn't spoil and the garage door has an emergency release that does not depend upon electricity, so you can take the car out for a spin and cool off in the car's air conditioning ... something I use to do before I had air conditioning - lol. Thanks for sharing. LateBloomer

I knew there was a release and told hubby to go out and find it.
Big mistake. I took his word there was none.

Very nice Haiku. Very well written. Good form and content,
Very nice turning line. This is what Haiku should be all about. Great job!

Been there and done that numerous times. This is a good choice. Especially the locked in the garage car. It all comes together and it all makes sense. Very nice work.
Always with respect,

Good 5-7-5, it is easy to follow the story in this one.
No, you can't go very far, with the car locked in the garage, by an opener debilitated by power outage.
Well done, Carolyn

Thanks, Carolyn. Trust me, I learned how to manually open the garage after talking to a neighbor after it was over!

Doesn't it make you wonder how our ancestors survived? I don't know what I would do if I had to give up electricity for the long term. We have it even better than the old royals in ancient history. Thank goodness for the modern world.

Hey, you're a first responder to this. It's really awful when there's an hurricane. We went three days without air conditioning etc. in the middle of summer.

I can't even imagine three days without power and I am selfish enough to hope I don't need to. Okay, camping is one thing, but you go prepared with lots of ice to keep the milk cold, and I love coming home to the hot shower.
