I think you are one of the the greatest on this site and even though horror is not my fancy I find myself drawn to your
writings.
Great chapter--excellent imagery, great dialogue, full of drama what else is there to say but that I totally enjoyed the plot the language et all

Dean,
This is the last of my sixers and it is given in love and appreciation for this story. Made me smiggle. Yeah, I can see it all. Imagery is excellent. Only problem I saw was the spelling of Wiley E Coyote. Otherwise ... keep writing.
Love,
Barbara

Thanks for the pleasure of another of your enjoyable stories. I especially like stories about the growing up years, so innocent and naive. :-)

Good chapter, you really have the childhood asntics down to a tee, or your at least channeling the past lives of the numbskulls I hung out with. Great descriptions, they really give the impression of being there. Good stuff, Dean.

You may have a big heart, but you sure know how to throw the punches, I was in pain just reading it. I liked the reference to the cartoon stars, very funny! It was not as scary as I envisaged and am glad I read it, I hope it doesn't progress into ultra horror, next chapter. Great detailed descriptions of the characters and their oddities. Great artwork and effects. Most enjoyable. Faye

Wow, now that was a great chapter and the author notes blew me away.
I like the carefree way you have at the beginning of the chapter, just some friends beating the hell out of each other.
Then you get into Irene Dimwitty(great name by the way) and the creepiness of that whole exchange. I love how you foreshadow at just the right times.
Excellent work, my friend.
I did find one thing for you:

Danny, as God is my witness, when we get outta this and get back home, I'm going to beat the living crap out of you.
-Needs quotation marks.

It wasn't enough to steal from the story, which is why I still gave it a much deserved sixer.
Take care,
-T.J.

True to its promise, this tale is full of wonderful imagery and great dialogue. I haven't read any of the previous installments, but I will seek them out. The artwork insets are wonderful...Stephanie

This is not a story, it is a fable, isn't it? The photos you choose to intersperse throughout... the names you give your characters... it reads like the brothers Grimm, sir.

But more than that. It reads like the brothers Kuch, in your trademark style, and that is what makes it so absorbing.

The more I read of this saga, the more it comes alive in my head. You've now humanized Dan-o, and made the friendship between him and Timmy deeper. Everyone had a friendship like this in their youth at one point or another. You've brought me into the story, sir.

The interlude with Irene Dimwitty (your names, sir... brilliant! I get it, completely) further deepened the dread anticipation of what is yet to come. They're not even at the cemetery yet, and already I feel the goosebumps. That is your greatest talent. We already know what's lurking there, you told us. ...And yet, I have my mental hands over my eyes, afraid to look at the screen.

The names you use, the interplay between Dan-o and Timmy, the little snippets of backstory... played with mastery, sir. Like I said - a fable. A dark fairy tale. That is the feeling I get. I sense the slightest essence of both Steven King and Roald Dahl, and the combination is potent. With each new instalment I read, I get a bit more... I can hear the night sounds... I can feel the cold air, smell the dirt, feel the bruises. It is a pleasure to see you taking your time. Indulging, if you will, for I feel that this is more than just another dread tale of the macabre from you. Much more. Everything you write has a different feel, but the essence remains the same, if that makes sense. And that's what I love so much about your writing. I think I said it in my last review--it's like reading an old friend; like finding a dusty old favourite book in an attic that I forgot I had, but kept for a reason.

You surprise me every time, sir. I never know what to expect when I read you, but I know that it will be you through and through. That's brilliance, in my opinion.

And while you are a machine, sir, a seemingly never-ending source of the fantastical, the whimsical, the deep and meaningful, or simply just the bone chilling, it is always unmistakably Dean Kuch.

The closer they get to the cemetery, the faster I read. You write for yourself, that much is obvious to me, sir, and that, more than anything else, is what draws me to your writing.

..I will someday find great pleasure in mentioning the fact that yes, I knew Dean Kuch before he became a best selling author.

I'll see you at Barnes and Noble, sir. It's too late to go back now...

Your true fan,

--Mike

Aah! Dean .
I have goosebumps just thinking about being out after dusk, and chills if after dark.
Okay! I do lead a sheltered life but... you keep telling me the deepest, darkest secrets of the night.
In perfect literary style I might add.
:-) Shirley.

Horror, horror everywhere and not a place to hide. This yarn is intense but with enough humor to keep us reading. Ms. Dimwitty was not such a dim wit after all. She had the best advice. Powerful images both in the words and the illustrations.
