"Condemn Us Not" Absolutely the cruellest of all cruel things on this earth is genital mutilation. The world powers should stop this practice through the United Nations. Well done.

My friend, UN had acted and is still acting on female genitalia mutilation. Please do google on genitalia mutilation of the females in Sudan, Ehtiopia, and other parts of Africa, the details are there.
-
That is what I said; the UN is doing nothing.

Sobering piece about a truth that many young women face in third word countries. It's a sad and unfortunate way of life for females of the culture. The artwork is sad and reflective - perfect for this poem.

your well chosen words allow the reader to see and feel the pain suffered by these young girls that have to conform to this barbaric torture with out the right of freedom of choice so sad nothing has change in this culture
message portrayed well
cheers.. Smoothiecool

A horrific practice that probably goes back centuries in these countries. A heartbreaking ritual. A well written piece that draws attention to the unspeakable genital mutilation of young girls.

Oh my God, that is so sick. I want to puke. I never knew of such a thing. I feel you made this known now, and I'm sure it is hard to write about.

This is an excellent piece that brings attention to an important issue. I've seen many different venues in which this cause has been voiced, from online sources to articles and even on an episode of Law and Order. Really great work overall here, thank you for sharing.

Hello Nassus1957,
In the light of Author Notes,
The theme is beautifully depicted.
Impressive and perfectly matching the theme wording.
Smooth and captivating flow with its own rhythm and lively imagery.
"...but don't deny us women
to redirect convention
this freedom to reject
genital mutilation"
Excellent!

Living in the 21st century and this type of mutilation still occurs. Old customs and traditions die hard. Maybe this i s part of their heritage handed down from the generations. To make a change would be so difficult.
Just review a story about the Syariah Law of the Muslims whereby if Muslims denounced their religion and become a Christian, they will be punished under this law.
Anyone non-Muslim marrying a Muslim must convert their faith to Islam. Failure to comply means sever punishmentfor the Muslim.
Maybe some will never understand what civilization means whereby traditions and religion must be followed to the rule.
Great write and well expressed.
Cheerio, Ritchie. ;))

Thanks Ritchie for resonating with the message of the poem, I am not talking of the Muslims here, I am talking of the ritual of female genital mutilation irrespective of religion. Thanks for the five stars my friend. God bless.
