One thought still sustains me, one concept revives:
My struggle brings succour to so many lives.
My beans all say thank you, my rhubarb salutes
As chooky-poo manna refreshes their roots.
I love your fun, whimsical poem - such a treat to
read - most impressive, my friend.
good luck with the contest

Thanks, Margaret.

Hah! Well...this was definitely silly, and it was certainly hilarious, no doubts about that!
What cracked me up like an egg at a Betty Crocker Bake-off, was that the poem, satirically, took itself so seriously. It was as if the poor pooper-scooper was telling us of his daily woes in a deliberate & businesslike manner. To me, that made it even funnier.
Great write, you have gotten my vote!

VERY well done! Clearly you gave a lot of thought, and perhaps personal history into this fowl entry. Perfect rhymes for the Arab genre. I look forward to your next adventure!

I like humorous light poems. This is very well composed and rhymed. It was a pleasure to read, and it made me smile because my son-in-law has the chicken poop and vegie garden too. :-)

Excellent! This is very well written. I love the descriptive titles you give the 'wonderful' life giving fertilizer. The entire poem i8s a classic in satire. Loved it!

Hahaha! I love it. Lily, Milly, Chocolate and Alice. What wonderful names for your chickens :) I love your rhythmic story and natural rhymes. This was delightful to read. Good old chicken poop can be used for compost. I didn't realize that. Best wishes to you in this contest. This is a very good entry!

Thanks, Joy - we really do have a Lily, Milly and Chocolate, but I have to admit I just made up Alice to get a rhyme for Palace.

I know the poet knows . I am doing now spreading crap on my fall garden area. Chicken poop that is. Hold you breath and sling away. Plow later on a better day. Well done poet. Good luck in the contest.

I loved this from beginning to end.
Fantastic rhythm and rhyme.
I never knew there were so many different names for chicken shit!
Your sense of humour is brilliant as is your writing ability.
Good luck in the contest - don't think you'll need much though as this is a winner!
Kindest regards, Debra :)

Thanks, Jenny.
I believe this struck a chord with many reviewers because they had owned chooks themselves.

Delightfully funny poem, beautifully written and rhymed. Definitely funny, but not funny - having to handle those mountains of crap and wade knee deep in the goo and the muck. Great job with poetic devices, alliteration 'shoveling shit' and 'dungeons of dung'. You paint quite the picture as we see both sides of this life-giving goo. I would find the smell nauseating, and probably hire somebody to do the dirty work ... ;)
This is an outstanding contest entry - Palais de Poop -
Loved the humor. Cheers ... ;o)
